Capcom's latest hit in the Resident Evil series launched worldwide in March 2009, just before the end of Capcom's financial year on March 31, 2009. Due to strong demand Capcom managed to ship 4.4m units of Resident Evil 5 through the end of March 2009. Initially, Capcom projected the game to reach 5.2m units lifetime through March 2010 on shipments of 800,000 units between April 2009 and March 2010. With the game already at 4.97m units shipped worldwide through April 2009 though, Capcom now expects Resident Evil 5 shipments to hit 1.0m units in the March 2010 year, which would bring lifetime Resident Evil 5 shipments to 5.4m units through next March.

Doubtfull 1 million units sitting on shelves. Retailers woudn't have restocked close to 600k units in April if they had that many unsold copies

Funny how Press made it "best selling RE so far", when the actual Capcom stuff doesnt say so...

So over a million copies sitting on shelves?

I am on my 3rd playthrough (360 ver.), on veteran difficulty. The level-up system in this game is purely addictive. Congrts to Capcom!

Great news for a great game! :-)

I hope these sales don't encourage Capcom to move the RE franchise further into the action/shooter genre. I liked the RE5 demo, and I can see that it's not just another shooter, but it's pretty clear they're moving more and more towards a Gears of War style of game.

Congrats to Capcom. RE5 is a great game, and definitely deserves the sales.
