I think it's getting to the point where I'm one of the only gamers in the west to not own this game.

The game that keeps on giving.

5m in a month and a bit? For a 5+ year old game? Insane! Should reach 100m way before the end of the year!

Ljink96 (on 16 May 2018)

Just...wow. Probably only 2nd behind Minecraft. Take Two would be insane not to easily bump that up to 100M with a Switch version. Mad props to them. I don't play these games but gotta give credit where it's do. Damn.

Ka-pi96 (on 16 May 2018)

At the rate it's going it would pass 100m before a Switch version released (even if one was coming soon)!

R* North doesn't make games for Nintendo. Neither does R* San Diego. Bad blood.

Well, it IS on five fucking systems so... lol

Qwark (on 17 May 2018)

So selling almost 20 million games on every system isn't a huge number? Most ges can't even come close to 20 million on a single system while heavenly bundled.

Most games don't have the luxury of launching on a combined install base of Xbox 360, PS3, PS4 and Xbox One. As a matter of fact, I don't think any GTA has EVER launched to a user base that large. Which would... drum roll please... explain the sales.

Yeah the PS4 and Xone install Base where sub 10 million when GTA launched. Now that you mention it there where plenty of cross gen games. MGS 5, Tomb Raider, AC4 ehich is available on 6 fucking systems. Yet even combined and bundled not one of those games did come close to selling 20 million units. Quite a few didnt even reac the ten million mark, while you know being on five fucking different systems. GTA V is sales are pretty muc historical and it's still selling like hotcakes.

None of those games you mentioned are GTA though. That franchise always sells amazingly well. GTA SA was basically on ONE console and it broke records. Had it had the luxury of 200-300 million install base, instead of 100-120, it would have sold just as well. You need to stop discounting install base. Doing so is just silly.

Because the Singleplayer Campaign was so good?

I sense a little foul play here to fluff numbers to insane amounts. I'm not saying it's a bad or not possible to reach 100 million - but something sneaky has to be happening for this game to remain in the top ten almost every week since launch, especially with rather poor discounts.

Or... We could simply not jump to conclusions before there is any evidence.
