Microsoft Announces Next Xbox - Project Scorpio - News

by Craig S , posted on 13 June 2016 / 3,781 Views

Not content with revealing the Xbox One S, Microsoft also revealed the existence of an upgraded Xbox One, called Project Scorpio.

Project Scorpio differs from the Xbox One in that it includes an 8-core CPU, a 6 teraflop GPU, and 320 GB/s of memory bandwidth, making it the most powerful console ever according to Phil Spencer.

The console will co-exist alongside the Xbox One and will support all Xbox One games, but will also allow for true 4K resolution gaming and high fidelity virtual reality.

Project Scorpio is set to launch holiday 2017.

Leaning Scorpio currently (large catalog of Xbox 360/XBox One games). Waiting on further pricing/specs for this and Neo/NX. If they support Oculus/Vive and the pricing is right, Scorpio has my money.

Sounds an awful lot like Sega 32X/Saturn all over again.

Ummm, not even close. You needed to already have owned a Genesis and then spend nearly $200 on top of that for a 32X just to play a handful of (crappy) games. You don't need to buy a new version of the XB1 to be able to play all XB1 games.

No it wont. Most people dont have a 4k tv or an oculus. This is only for those people that want one. Also the xb1 and xb1 s play the same games.

Just like neo will kill the ps4? C'mon people really don't care that much about VR and 4k when they have to drop a pile of cash.

It's a shame the whole "no exclusives" thing will prevent me from ever buying one.

They said that all Xbox One games will be playable on the Scorpio, but the reverse is not true, so there will be exclusives.

It's kinda funny that this is simultaneously the best and worst time to buy an XBO.

@Zenos All of the games will be available on PC. So no exclusives.

You should be focused on playing the great games the Xbox brand delivers then worry about the hardware.
