Reggie: 'We Are Producing Amiibo as Quickly as We Can' - News

Nintendo has taken some heat over Amiibo figure shortages. Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime has told The Wall Street Journal that Nintendo is doing everything it can to produce more Amiibo figures:
"We are producing amiibo as quickly as we can and getting them out into the marketplace as quickly as we can. With the most recent wave, over about a 30-day period, we sold just in the U.S. over a million amiibo. Through the end of March, we’ve sold 10.5 million amiibo globally, more than two-thirds in Canada, the U.S. and Latin America.
There’s a huge amount of demand and that demand is even more concentrated in the Americas. It is a manufacturing process that takes some time and we had to scale up our supply chain, and it’s still scaling up to try and meet that demand."

I´d like to have some of the rarer amiibo figures. The prices of something like Lucina, Robin and Shulk are fucking unreasonable.
Well they better hurry up since that's they're best source of income right now.
On amazon right now you can buy the majority of figures for #13, and pretty much all the rest for under $20.
Thats not bad, doubt those Amiibos cost more than 4$ to manufacture.
If theyre sold for 20$ thats 16$ profits on each unit sold (400% of the manfuctureing costs).
@JRPGfan Whenever you see an amiibo on Amazon for over $13, that is because it is being resold by a third party. No matter what the price, Nintendo only sold it for $13.
Interesting so the majority are sold in the americas
You know what, I'm tired of debating the likelihood that Nintendo is artificially restricting supply of Amiibos. I've no history in selling little plastic DLC imps. But I will say this, it's in Nintendo's interests to sort this out quickly, as this could become an eponymous toy brand that will serve Nintendo well for years, but right now, they're teetering on the edge of that eventuality and one in which people become too fed up and reject the Amiibo brand early in its life time.
The younger a brand or product is, the less it can afford to piss customers off, because they'll have built less commitment to that product and find it easier to throw their hands up and abandon said product.
This is a crucial time for Nintendo if they want Amiibos to remain so very profitable, long term.
I remember the days when Reggie had to say these things about their consoles. Good times.

When I stop seeing amiibo being sold for over $30 on Amazon, I might believe that.
