Best Adventure Game of 2013 - Article

Last year was a big one for the Adventure genre, which found itself in the spotlight for the first time in what felt like an age. The Double Fine Adventure (now titled Broken Age) Kickstarter eclipsed $3 million USD in funding and got the ball rolling on the industry's Kickstarter movement. Then, Journey and The Walking Dead received very high accolades, including multiple Game of the Year Awards (Journey won our GotY award last year).

Such great success in 2012 meant that more players than ever were tuned in to what the Adventure genre would churn out in 2013. Three titles caught our eye: the return of everyone's favorite lawyers, the touching tale of two brothers, and a strangely appealing tour of the office.

The Nominees Are:

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies

The Stanley Parable

And the Winner Is...

The Stanley Parable

All you do is walk through an office building during a blackout, making a few choices while the narrator blathers on, right? What's so good about that? Well, you see, that's just looking at the outside shell. What really makes The Stanley Parable compelling is the story wrapped inside that setting, how the choices you make cause you to think and react. It's an experience that's difficult to describe in words, so take a few hours out of your day to download and play our Best Adventure Game of 2013, The Stanley Parable, to see what all the fuss is about.
