EA's DLC to Reach $1 Billion in Revenue this Year - News

Electronic Arts is expecting revenue for its DLC to reach $1 billion this year, according to Bloomberg. A spokesman for EA John Reseburg has stated that Madden NFL 15, along with other sports titles will be a "major contributor" in hitting the number.

There have been more than a dozen changes to this years Madden which is expected to increase sales when compared to last years game. Analysts, including Cown & Co.'s Doug Creutz, expects the game to generate more than $350 in revenue.

Electronic Art's total digital revenue hit $1 billion in 2012, however the report of $1 billion this year is for just DLC. These are just add-ons for games. The popularity of the Ultimate Team initiative will help provide the boost in DLC sales.

No wonder they're pushing it so hard on consumers. They cost less to produce and are sold at a premium, let the money flow.
