Welcome to the ‘Top 10’ weekly feature. Each week we will be taking a look at the top 10 selling games in a particular genre, platform, most recent month, even sprinkling in the top 10 selling games from a past year. All sales specified will be worldwide, unless stated otherwise. If there is a particular top 10 you want to see leave a comment and it may be featured in a future top 10.

Over the first two month of 2013 we will be looking at the 2012 sales by platform. This week we will be taking a look at the top 10 selling PlayStation Vita games in 2012. Last week we looked at the top 10 selling Xbox 360 games in 2012 and the week before that the top 10 selling Wii games in 2012.

Top 10 Selling PlayStation Vita Games in 2012

Looking at the top 10 bestselling PlayStation Vita games in 2012, unsurprisingly nine of the 10 games were released in 2012. The Vita launched in North America and Europe in 2012 and was only released in Japan in 2011. The one other title was released in 2011.

The nine titles in 2012 sold a combined 3.18 million units or 79.9 percent of the total games sold in the top 10. The one game released in 2011 sold a combined 0.80 million units or 21.1 percent of the total games sold in the top 10.

The top 10 bestselling PlayStation Vita games in 2012 sold a combined 3.98 million games in 2012. No games crossed one million units sold in the handhelds first year available worldwide.  The top three games sold more than 500,000 units and the top 10 titles sold more than 200,000 units.

Three games are first party, published by Sony and seven games are third party. The third party publishers include two Ubisoft titles, two Electronic Arts titles, one Activision title, one Atlus title, and one Warner Bros. title. The three first party titles, published by Sony, sold a combined 1.38 million units or 34.7 percent of the total games sold in the top 10.

The two Ubioft titles sold a combined 0.82 million units or 20.6 percent of the total games sold in the top 10. The two Electronic Arts titles sold a combined 0.61 million units or 15.3 percent of the total games sold in the top 10.

Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Call of Duty Black Ops: Declassified and Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation. These tree titles almost sold as much as the other seven games in the top 10.

Here are the rest of the PlayStation Vita sales in 2012 outside the top 10: Sony sold 3.45 million PlayStation Vita’s in 2012. This is a huge increase of 617.3 percent when compared to 2011. Can't believe Call of Duty is the second, yet Rayman is the seventh e__e However, it's not that bad in sales. Hope Uncharted gets to 1m.

I'm not all that surprised by that. However it is a little sad that the PS Vita's top 10 games don't even include some of its better games. Just makes you realize even more why some 3rd parties may be avoiding the Vita right now.

At least Persona made the cut. :) That's a series that has never had a million seller. It's very possible that Atlus made a good choice and turned a tidy profit from the game.

Those Fifa Soccer numbers are WRONG. You guys added USA Fifa 13 numbers on Fifa Soccer. And LittleBigPlanet is missing FIRST WEEK on USA!

To give an idea of what Im talking about this was said on the X360 top 10 "26.03 million games sold for the Xbox 360 in 2012 were first party, published by Microsoft" and thats counting Halo 4 and Kinect Adventures so I doubt the vita has sold that much

That is all not that bad especially when you look at the HW base of the vita.

So Uncharted will be the first million seller on the PSV. They should have went after an exclusive GTA for the PSV instead of thinking CoD would be a system seller on a hand held.

Technically the game DID sell systems. Just wasn't as big as how they advertised it to be. Uncharted remains a bigger game than CoD on the Vita. I'm sure it's possible for the first million seller to be a different game on the Vita.

Well agree it sold systems, it just didnt sell very many systems lol. Honestly, didnt Persona 4 probably sell more Vitas than COD did?
