FlatWorld Sues Apple Over Touch-based Patent Infringement - News

The lawsuits over patents continue with Apple being sued by FlatWorld over a patent relating to touch-based. The US Patent number is 6,920,619 and is named "User interface for removing an object from a display." The claim is that Apple's iPhone, iPad and Macs are using a Magic Mouse or Magic Trackpad, which infringes on the patents.
Professor Slavoljub Milekic first used a system to move items on a touchscreen using a drag and drop method. A patent was issued in 2005 and FlatWorld was formed in January 2008, only weeks after the original iPhone was announced. FlatWorld reissued the patent in July 2007 in order to modify a few of the patent's claims. Apple was first informed of the patent and its pending reissue back in September 2007. Four and a half years later FlatWorld claims that Apple has willfully infringed on the patent.
