The best JRPG i have played this gen by far.The story was awesome, and genuine , the only shortcoming is that while it is enemy's turn , you cant skip it to be a bit faster , but instead have to watch the entire moves , which can take up to 10 minutes in some battles. other than that minor flaw the game is perfect. Recently reached Chapt 17, with over 30 hours of gameplay (not including failed missions). I'm pretty much a casual gamer... haven't played a game this intensely for a long time. I find a lot of game lose their novelty after a while. VC is a massive exception! Probably the best story + character game I have played this gen. I had been hesitating whether I should buy this game for the last few months, and I finally went out and got it. It deserves so much more in terms of sales, it shouldn't have to be one of those Japanese titles that never truly makes it into Western markets. It's such a beautiful game with such lovable characters! Hopefully with the DLC coming Sega may advertise the game to get some new sales. They deserve it! Message | Report |

I got this delivered yesterday and I'm already on Chapter 5. The game is so damn epic I can't put it down, this really is worth a purchase and a great take on SRPG's. This has pushed the genre in the right direction. I hope trophies do come, but it was mainly aimed at the Japanese crowd and they don't seem to be as big on trophies. Message | Report |

@bohound If that is how it works then I wonder why we see a see Fire Emblem all the time. This game is an SJRPG, a genre will rarely even reaches the 500k mark in terms of units sold. A long running series like Disgaea doesn't sell too hot but they also keep on coming. With these sales I am almost certain a sequel is on it's way. Message | Report |

i dont agree about the thing that makes the game special is that few people have it, this game its pure art ans it has an element that many game even new ones doesnt have "it feels fresh" there is nothing out there that looks like this or plays like this game so i really hope it can reach more people cus if not how are we specting a second part???im really looking forward to see a second part of this game but for the sales its very unlikely, just remember Final fantasy 7 that sold mills, and every one felt special about owning a master piece, and is exactly the same for this game, its really good i hope they make more games like this for this and others consoles, but i want to play them all. i wanted to buy this game but i prefered to buy Cod:WaW but my girlfriend knew i wanted this game also but didnt buy it myself cus i didnt think it will be that good, my girlfriend gave it to my in valnetines, and it reallyy was the best gift^^, a hell of game Message | Report |

Surprisingly fantastic game. I held back for a long time due to the lack of trophies, but finally caved in by persuasion from a friend. @ Videogirl I think you grossly overestimate the costs with this game. The primary cost would be the engine but even the engine itself isn't very technical. Sure it cost some money but I don't think the worst case scenario is 600k to break even. It took the cheap routes in some ways as it didn't have any advertising and wasn't localized for Europe. Well taking into account they built the Canva engine from the ground up, and that it took them four years of delevopement for this game, add to that the level of polishing and the fact they hired renowned seyiuu to dub the main characters. We can estimate the developpment costs around 10-12 millions which means in the worst case scenario the game needs to sell 600K to break even. But Sega might still sell its canvas engine and recoup all its costs just from that. Message | Report |

I bought it and am about to start chapter 5. I have to say, it's a great game. The one "issue" (i am not even gonna say problem) is that I always end up using 3 or 4 guys during the battles and frget about the others. I use gamerankings, not that other site. They have Vesperia at 83% and Valkyria at 87%. There's nothing wrong with comparing the two games. I think it's fun talking about RPG's and comparing tbh. @outlaw This games reviews aren't that far from vesperia's. 87% isn't that much greater than Vesperia's 83%. I'd say they're pretty much even review wise, seeing as how a lot of reviewers game them very close scores (i.e Gamespot giving them both an 8.5). Amazing game! I especially love the skirmishes. It's not like in some Fire Emblem/FF Tactics games where you can only level up certain characters during missions. @Montana The story is somewhat vapid at the very begining, but once you're past chapter 5 it takes off. The Gameplay however becomes gradually more intense and soon you're fighting some very epic and long battles. This is a great game. Sadly, it's sales are the same as Eternal Sonata's and Tales of Vesperia. The only thing these three titles have in common are the cell shaded graphics. Even though the graphics in all 3 games are very good, and look great on an HDTV...it seems most gamers are rejecting this art style in this generation of games (well on the 360 and ps3 anyways). It's sad too, cause all 3 games have good stories, and are fun to play. Message | Report |

You do not understand how graphics work. the texture resolutions are very high, and they are very fluid and colorful. the graphics engine for Valkyria Chronicles is more technologically advanced than the unreal 3 engine (Gears of war, Unreal, Last Remnant) Message | Report |
