Vagrant Story is Off to The PSN! - News
by VGChartz Staff , posted on 17 December 2009 / 6,885 ViewsDo you know the awesome dungeon crawler/weapon craft RPG, Vagrant Story? If not, you BETTER get acquainted, ol' chap!
Why "ol' chap"? well, that's because it's only the European PSN that gets it for now. Not to worry though, it's safe to say US PSN won't be left out.
In my eyes, Vagrant Story is a great PS1 game, showing off excellent, addictive gameplay, and great graphics. The story is pretty good, too.
Also, guess where it takes place? Why, in Ivalice, my friends! If you love that universe, check another pro to the "why should I get it list". If you don't, still get it!

This is what Square Enix had to say on the matter:
"Thursday 17th December/...Square Enix Ltd., the publisher of Square Enix® interactive entertainment products in Europe and other PAL territories, today announces VAGRANT STORY®, the classic RPG adventure originally released in 2000, will be available to download from the PlayStation®Store on PlayStation®Network across PAL territories from 22nd December 2009, priced €5.99.
The original PS one® release secured immediate critical acclaim on its launch with Famitsu awarding it 40/40. Famed for its darkly compelling narrative, unique battle system, and atmospheric 3D world, VAGRANT STORY is a genuine classic.

They call me... agent assless chaps.
As the VKP’s (Valendia Knights of the Peace) elite Riskbreaker, Ashley Riot, you must pursue a group of cultists into a deserted city of Leá Monde in an attempt to rescue the kidnapped son of a Valendian dignitary. But all is not as it seems, and everything you once believed will soon be called into question as you contend not only with the cultists, but rival political factions, the city’s restless fallen, and your own dark memories.
Larry Sparks, Vice President Brands PAL Region of Square Enix Ltd. comments, “VAGRANT STORY is one of only a handful of games to be honoured with Famitsu’s highest possible score and it’s a great pleasure to be releasing the game in Europe. For the first time in years VAGRANT STORY will be easily accessible to original fans and new gamers wanting to experience a true classic.”
VAGRANT STORY is available in all PAL countries where the PlayStation®Store is available."
The game is due Dec. 22. Mark it on your calendar!
Writer's note: It's nice to see Square Enix up their game so much recently with PS1 classics (another recent example is Final Fantasy VIII, also a great classic). Good job! Now give us Xenogears and Einhander!

Arguably the greatest RPG of all time- If I didn't hold FF VII and Skies of Arcadia in such lofty heights, well....I'm happy and still have my PS! original- Can't wait for this to hit the US.
they should remake this to HD or better yet, a sequel!
One of the best RPGs of all-time.
@ocnkng:
PSN Cards, I think.
From what I hear, this game is a complicated classic.
I would definitely hop on this if I had a PS3 ASAP!!
Man this is so awesome! Ohh is there a way to buy this off the EU PSN even though I am here in the US??
So why does the US not get it..
Hopefully a US PSN release comes sometime soon. I never got to play this when it came out and I've always wanted to.

square r bringing all the ps1 games to psn :)
Hmm, well I hope Square can be bothered to bring this to America.
This is where Final Fantasy XII began. This game soundtrack, story and graphics (was compared with dreamcast at the time) are marvelous. Some part of gameplay concerning weapons crafting and use of magics ressemble Demon's Souls. It is a little bit difficult too, but when you learn how to really play, it transforms in one of the best experiences a game has ever offered. It got 40/40 from famitsu! Play it!
I got a mint copy 2 years ago on ebay for 11 pounds.
Nice, i actually still have my copy after all these years. Hopefully they release it in the US store also, id love to play it on my PSP.
At least now we have a date.

I believe some people here on VGC just got their Christmas wish early =)
