Final Fantasy Series Sales Top 212 Million Units - Sales

This figure is up from 207 million units as of December 2025, 203 million units as of July 2025, and 200 million units as of March 2025.
"The Square Enix group of companies boasts a valuable portfolio of intellectual property including: Final Fantasy, which has sold over 212 million units worldwide; Dragon Quest, which has sold over 97 million units worldwide; and the legendary Space Invaders," said Square Enix.

The most recent entries in the Final Fantasy series includes Final Fantasy XVI, which released for the PlayStation 5 in June 2023, for PC in September 2024, and for the Xbox Series X|S in June 2025, as well as Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, which released for the PlayStation 5 in February 2024, for PC in January 2025, and for Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S in June 2026.
Square Enix last week announced the final chapter in the Final Fantasy VII remake series, Final Fantasy VII Revelation, for the Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and Microsoft Store. It will launch in spring 2027

Honestly I don't think it's a bad thing later entries are underperforming, Final Fantasy is supposed to reinvent worlds and bring you new characters and they've lingered on VII for too long. It's hurting the franchise and leaving just the nostalgic fans left
