I doubt that GTA VI can close a gap this big but it will be interesting to see how much it shrinks by the end of the gen.

I think the gap will actually keep growing next year though at a slower rate than this year. The Xbox One was still relevant sales wise in 2019 but the Xbox Series will basically be dead next year so I don't think the PS5 will be enough to start closing the gap even if it sells more than the PS4 did in 2019.

Edit: Well GTA 6 just got delayed to November so the pace might not even be slower till the last couple months of the year.

The xbox one did miracles in 2018/2019 compared to the beginning of the generation. That console bluffed its way to success.

Yeah after such a disastrous reveal and having a much worse exclusive lineup than the PS4 in the 2nd half it's almost impressive in a way that it only declined by a bit over 30% compared to the 360. The One X really helped to keep it relevant in 2018 and 2019. The Xbox Series will decline by a similar percentage though it would've been a lot more if its first couple years weren't pretty strong sales wise thanks to the Series S doing well when it was hard to find a PS5.
