Microsoft would like to be selling between 8 and 12 million consoles per year, so they are not too far off, but for sure 7 million is not enough.

The SNES sold 9 million per year. That would be a nice number for Xbox to hit. 2024 is make it or break it for Xbox Series X, go up or go down.

Indy better be great!

2024 will be an interesting year to see. Playstation will be releasing their Pro model likely right along Nintendo releasing the Switch successor. Curious how many units the big two can push out: I'd expect PS5 to blaze through 20mil with ease, and it will be interesting to see just how well the Switch successor could perform in its first year. Given supply is readily available, I could see 10mil to 13mil before December 31, 2024. (I have no idea how Xbox will stay relevant in gaming discussion this year. They've got some good exclusives (finally!) from what it looks, so maybe they can stay afloat.)

...oh yeah, and the Switch. I predict 9mil: 2mil for the first two quarters, 1mil Q3, and 3mil for the final quarter (+1mil for rounding up). Comfortably will be sitting at 147mil, inching ever-so close to the DS.

Like basically all modern console launches Switch 2 will sell everything it ships. If it launches in November I think it's unlikely Nintendo will ship enough to sell more than around 5m units this year.

Nah, Nintendo won't sell 8m Switch 2's this year if they launch November. The most a console launched in November has ever sold-through in that year is under 4.5m. They would have to double the best launch of all time. They simply won't have that much stock.

Im a bit more optimistic for Switch Jan-Mar 2024 & FY’25.
Jan-March 2024: 2.5M
FY’25 10 M
Q1: 2.4M
Q2: 2.7M
Q3: 3.0M
Q4: 1.9M

PS5 should be able to sell 20M. But I’m putting a hard cap on 21M.

I think the Nintendo "Down year-on-year" is showing the same as Xbox.

Xbox Series X|S
7.50 million units sold year-to-date
Down year-on-year 1,157,528 units (-13.4%)

Nintendo Switch
15.90 million units sold year-to-date
Down year-on-year 1,157,528 units (-16.5%)

PS5 will be down YoY this 2024. Every month this 2024 will be down compared to 2023, save a couple of months, since 2023 is its peak year. It's mostly downhill from now guys.

ps5 pro is releasing this year, might give it a large boost that month

Down YoY? I think a slight decline is likely. After all PS5 just posted the best sales for a PlayStation console in at least 19 years. Down YoY every single month? Not a chance.

I do agree. PS5 had massive discounts this year for weeks to reach their target, i don't think they will aim as high for next FY so they don't have to do that again. Spiderman and the slim released this year and 2024 won't be able to keep up only with the pro if it releases. PS4 Pro didn't have that much impact initially, it's more a long term effect anyway.
