The charts include comparisons between the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch, as well as with older platforms. There are articles based on our worldwide estimates, as well as the US, Europe, and Japan.

This monthly series compares the aligned worldwide sales of the Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.

The Xbox Series X|S launched in November 2020, while the Xbox One launched in November 2013. This does mean the holiday periods for the two consoles do lineup.

Microsoft is selling two devices, not 1, and one of them is priced at just $250 compared to the old $400 minimum. Still can't outsell last gen.

Series X sales are less than half the sales of the horrible performing One. That is awful.

Fire Phil.

I guess Don Mattrick's strategy is the reason why Xbox One had a better launch than Xbox 360 and Xbos Series.

Phil has made some mistakes, but MS gaming revenue is still near all time heights. Doesn’t make sense to fire him.

i agree, the are obviously making big dollars or they would make a change, but, they should be doing way better than the X1and i think a change is coming.

i agree that someone has to take the blame, sure looks like Phil to me!

starfield did not provide the necessary impetus. If xbox sales don't see a big increase this holiday it may never recover. but you never know the xbox 360 had very high sales at the end of its life

i believe you are correct, gamepass does hurt console sales?

Imho, games on PC day 1 are the thing killing sales.

Bring back Don. Jokes aside, he has probably done more for Xbox than Phil.

If xbox has an holiday period as bad as last year i don't see the series ever catching up to the xbox one, which is WILD to say

I knew MS's strategy would eat into their hardware sales. I mean pretty much every knew that. I just don't think we realized just how quickly it would happen. I honestly believe eventually MS will abandon hardware. Doing this will allow them to work out a deal with PS for GP as well with Nintedo. Which is their overall goal.

My theory is that lot of frustrated PS5 potential customer bought Series last year. Now PS5 stock back to normal, Series sales decline.

Oh oh. The fear of Xbox Series is returning soon... the holiday season!

MS not making hardware will happen eventually, we all knew it. Well, aside from their crazy fanbase. Does not matter, they would still pay $50 a month and still claim it is the best value in gaming.

With all due respect, I believe you are wrong.
I could type many lines explaining reasons for MS to continue making consoles and keep the Xbox platform alive, but... someone else has already done it very well...

Over the course of a few posts, Ryuu96 made an impeccable analysis and indicated several factors that show that the Xbox is in the market to stay. Anyone interested read it.

His analysis says that they failed at getting ABK which isn't true. On top of that he says there is no guarantee they will be able to get GP on PS and Nintendo. Why? EA and Ubiosft both have their sub services on there. Why would GP be excluded? On top of that Steam has already said they would work with MS to get GP on there.

Activision games should improve sales once they are put onto Game Pass. If not, then time to buy another publisher!

Geralt99 Lavamelon (on 01 November 2023)

And if that doesn't do it, then buy the consumers and force them to subscribe to gamepass.
