Publisher Bethseda Softworks and developers id Software and Nightdive Studios have announced a new update for the remaster of Quake is now available.
The update includes the free Dawn of the Machine expansion developed by MachineGames.

To celebrate Quake’s 30th anniversary, the award-winning team at MachineGames—in collaboration with id Software—returns with Dawn of the Machine, a brutal new episode building on their critically acclaimed work on Dimension of the Machine and Dimension of the Past. Delivering ferocious combat, labyrinthine level design, and nightmarish realms that twist reality beyond recognition, it pushes the legacy of the genre-defining first-person shooter even further, honoring one of gaming’s most enduring icons.

Ranger is trapped in a dimension of endless illusion, reliving the same violent cycles for what feels like lifetimes, dying thousands of times in a futile attempt to escape. Wearied but unbroken, he has heard rumor of The Nightmare Machine.
Beyond the hordes of monsters, twisted by an eternity in the Elder realms, lies the Machine. It is believed its destruction will shatter the illusion, finally breaking the loop.
Quake is available now for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series XS|, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam and Microsoft Store.

Cool! I wonder if this means Quake as a series will be getting more attention, e.g. in the form of a new game by MachineGames.
During the Developer Direct in January 2024, MachineGames was showcasing Indiana Jones. For a couple of seconds, it showed a whiteboard, and with the image cut off, you could see "AKE 6" with the Quake logo directly underneath it.
Was very odd for the logo to be an Indiana Jones showcase. So it led to a lot of speculation that MachineGames could be working on the next Quake. Which, considering the studio's history, they LOVE the IP. I'm sure they would have loved to work on a new entry. If it is 6, then must mean that Champions is considered Quake 5.
