We all knew this was coming due to the holiday season. PS5 will bounce back. They'll be trading blows much like PS4 and Switch before it. Unless Sony really is serious about selling over 20M consoles year 2.
Well, Switch is the fastest selling console counting 52 weeks after launch. Switch even outsold Wii in its first year - and Wii is currently outselling PS5 launch aligned. PS5 already had one holiday season, now Switch breaks even this disadvantage.
Switch started slow since it was a task to bring back the consumer after the Wii U. PS5 is coming off the strong PS4, so it's had a pretty smooth gen transition. We know tables can turn in a generation pretty quickly. We know the Switch will end up selling record breaking numbers. Even if the PS5 is selling super well, we'll see if it dominates as much as the PS4 did.
Switch numbers are not that high in Europe and NA, and since Japan is saturated I don't see how they keep sales up moving forward when stock for the PS5 is readily available and the PS5 being more popular in precisely those two markets (I expect the PS5 to perhaps be the top selling console of all time, maybe beating the PS2, because of the inevitable PS5 Pro that the PS2 never had (no PS2 pro), but we'll see).
