Over 1 Million Games Were Sold in the UK Last Week, FIFA 21 and Switch Were Big Black Friday Winners - Sales

FIFA 21 retook the top spot on the retail UK charts, according to GfK for the week ending November 28, 2020. Sales for the game jumped 45 percent week-on-week. This is after a 121 percent increase the previous week.

The week ending November 28 saw over one million games sold at retail. which included Black Friday. However, this is down compared to 1.3 million games sold during Black Friday week in 2019. It should be noted the UK is currently in lockdown due to COVID-19. 

The Nintendo Switch was the other big winner for the Black Friday week, as the Xbox Series X and S, and PS5 has limited stock that is quickly selling out. Switch games at retail saw sales increase 33 percent last week and were even up nine percent compared to last year. Switch games accounted for 38 percent of the games sold last week.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons came in third place and was the highest-charting Switch games. Sales for the game jumped 58 percent after it had already increased 36 percent the prior week.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe came in fourth place with sales up 62 percent wee-on-week. The Switch version of Minecraft was in eighth place as sales increased 26 percent, while Super Mario 3D All-Stars came in ninth place with sales up 54 percent. Just Dance 2021 rounds out the top 10 as sales saw a massive 182 percent jump in sales, as the majority of copies sold were for the Switch. 

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War wasn't discounted last week and saw sales fall 48 percent week-on-week. Assassin's Creed Valhalla comes in at fifth place as sales dropped 28 percent. Spider-Man: Miles Morales is in sixth place as its sales dropped 36 percent.

Switch is selling like crazy in Europe in general right now. On the german Amazon the Switch has sold out a couple of days ago. The large German retailer Media Markt only has Switch light systems in stock. Switch light is still pretty easy to find, but the regular switch is increasingly hard to come by in general.
