I expect MH Rise will eventually take the number 2 spot on here. After all it has a good shot at doing 5 mil+ in Japan alone.
I don't know, depends on the critical reception of the game. I could see it flirt with the 10 million mark if it turns out to be just as good or better than World.
If you add them all up you get
Resident Evil 4 = 10.3 million
Resident Evil 5 = 11.9 million
Resident Evil 6 = 9.8 million
Resident Evil 7 = 8.3 million
Note,
- RE4 has many different versions listed
- RE5 has listed the standard and gold edition
- RE6 has two different standard versions listed ???
-
RE7 has no other different versions listed
So not really sure how Capcom totals these up. But I know there is a RE7 gold edition because I bought it last week. However, RE7 gold edition is not listed.
Basically, Res 4, 5, and 6 current gen (XB1/PS4) versions are listed separately from the original release, since the original release was on an earlier generation. Res 7 Gold Edition most likely will be listed separately like Res 5 Gold is, but hasn't hit 1m sales just yet, it probably will pretty soon though.
Remember Resident Evil 7 launch, a lot of babies because the big change, they didn't want to try someting new, and now we see it on top. Is interesting that topic.
Yeah... the fact that it's a clear contender for GOTG in the horror genre helped a lot. Man, I love this game!
RE3's legs are awful.
Yeah, you can tell Res 3 Remake won't be selling anywhere near as well as Res 7 or Res 2 Remake (Res 2 remake is on track to pass the highest Res 5 version on the next update to this list, making Res 7 and Res 2 Remake the 2 highest selling Res games on a single version, though Res 5 is still in the lead overall if you add up all of it's different versions). Res 2 Remake might even pass Res 7 lifetime, since Res 7 has a 2 year headstart on it and Res 2 has still managed to close the gap to 800k. As for Res 3 Remake, considering the original Res 3 was one of the lowest selling mainline Res games, I'm not really all that surprised that Res 3 Remake isn't selling big numbers, the fanbase just doesn't have the same attachment and nostalgia for Res 3 that they have for the other classic Res games.
only 5 mega man titles, excluding the legacy collection on this list, sad.
