The Pokemon Company and Tencent Games’ TiMi Studios have announced free-to-play strategic team battle game, Pokemon Unite, for the Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android. A release date was not announced.

Pokemon Unite is a strategic team battle game being developed jointly by The Pokemon Company and Tencent Games’ TiMi Studios. Pokemon Unite is planned as a cross-platform game for Nintendo Switch and mobile devices and will be free-to-start.

In this game, players face off against each other in five-on-five team battles. During battles, players will cooperate with teammates to catch wild Pokemon, level up and evolve their own Pokemon, and defeat opponents’ Pokemon while trying to earn more points than the opposing team within the allotted time.

Pokemon Unite introduces a new kind of Pokemon battle—one that requires teamwork and strategy. It is simple and yet full of intricacies waiting to be unpacked.

Are you sure? I have a feeling, that this game might become a very strong seller. Might not be the game for you or me. But I think this might sell big.

Well, considering how this isn't touching PC at all, my guess is they want the old slice of Moba pie, just without competing directly against the likes of LoL, Dota 2 and HotS.

Just like I said, a spinoff. This year's Pokemon will be Crown Tundra and maybe Snap gets released this year as well. The Pokemon fanbase is awful. If Gamefreak keeps Pokemon an annual series "Oh, Pokemon Company needs to put more time into their games". Now they're doing just that and now "The Pokemon Company is out of touch". Guys, just let them spend more time on the games you want to play.

Yes, we all wanted Gen 4 remakes or Let's Go Jhoto but Sword and Shield JUST released last November. Chill. This is the best route for GameFreak to take. Release a new gen with dlc for the following year and then new games after that.
