Kenichiro Takaki says Senran Kagura 7EVEN May Take Some Time Due to Recent Worldwide Regulations - News

by Adam Cartwright , posted on 02 December 2018 / 4,161 Views

In what appears to be the latest casualty of Sony Interactive Entertainment's new policy to censor games with questionable content, producer of the Senran Kagura series, Kenichiro Takaki, has revealed in an interview that the release of the latest entry (Senran Kagura 7EVEN) on PS4 may be delayed due to recent "worldwide regulations regarding sexual depiction".

He goes on to note that his team have to make games "in a way that they aren't misunderstood" and that "certain things are harder than they've ever been before". What this means for the game's release date and platforms are unknown, but Takai says they're thinking about "various things overall".

This would be the second Senran Kagura game to face censorship at the hands of Sony's new policy, the first being Senran Kagura Burst Re:Newal, whose western release is having its intimacy mode stripped out.

I would have thought so. It's not like the don't have games on Nintendo hardware.

It should be censored seeing as they are depicting underaged characters.

I'd love to see a "no pedo" version of this and a lot of other Japanese games.

Got to go where your fanbase is though.

Which isn't on just one system though.

@chazore never said it was, it would silly to not release it given most their sales come from PS.

Except the OP said "there are other platforms", which is exactly what there is, other platforms. You said "go to where the fanbase is", which heavily implies one system above all others.

You even gave that away at the end of your most recent sentence, so yes, you do believe the entire fanbase is Sony based, despite the fact that Switch/PC are picking up on the Japanese games front.

The fanbase is everywhere these days, not just one system, and playing the numbers game will only net a loss, as Switch is really picking it up in Japan.

The downvotes for other platform releases are very telling indeed.

Just go for Switch/PC if you're having issues with regulations.

Weird. From the look of things, Peach Beach Splash still had an intimacy mode. youtube.com/watch?v=WGehxar-LSI but it was removed from Re:Newal

Because Sony changed its policies after Peach Beach Splash. It's a new issue. For example, the new version of Dead or Alive Xtrem will surely be less interesting than the original, because the censorship policies happened between the two.

Well, now I want to see the difference between the sales of each version compared to other Senran Kagura games. I hope this kind of pressure stops soon, this is leaving a poor taste on many devs and consumers.

"depection" ... That's when a bodybuilder is off-season and grows moobs, right?

I think they want their games to have more than 2 digits sales...
