Now I don't have to buy an Xbox One, cool.

Exactly. It was pretty much the only game that interested me for the console.

This is a blow to Microsoft for sure. I wonder how much they invested before pulling the plug

Wow, that is incredibly disappointing.

That was THE Xbox One game I was looking forward to the most. It was creative, one of the few japanese style first party games to get the AAA treatment for the console, and I've been eagerly awaiting a Devil May Cry style next gen game with a hint of Lost Planet what with the giant dragons/monster slaying thrown in.

Microsoft, you owe the fans a detailed description of why you're cancelling this. That one sentence explanation explains nothing.

There goes one of my reasons to buy an Xbox One.

You have got to be kidding me! It looked really good at GamesCom and it got great feedback.

What went wrong?

Yeah, it was back in 2014 during E3 2014 day when MS revealed Scalebound trailer at press conference.

Shame. Can't say I was too excited for it though since all I remember seeing for it was a trailer with zero gameplay and those sort of trailers bore me.

That sucks @ Microsoft. The next Platinum Games hit will be "Nier Automata" in March for PS4. Goodbye Scalebound forever... -.-

Not like you were ever going to play it, since your soul is sold to the other brand.

So Halo Wars 2 gets the green light, but not Scalebound? Halo Wars might have "Halo" on the box, but no one likes that game.

  • -3
Azzanation Liquid_faction (on 10 January 2017)

Are you joking? Halo Wars is considered the best RTS to grace a console. Amazing spinoff.

I agree. halo wars 2 gets the "hype" because it has the halo brand on it. I am not buying halo wars 2 even if I get it for free. For me, the rts genre is very boring.

if Platinum got shutdown. Would anything of value honestly be lost? Their quality is all over the map.

Disappointing however if it wasnt going to deliver a great experience than no point releasing it.

  • -4
Normchacho Azzanation (on 09 January 2017)

I imagine they aren't releasing it because it wouldn't have made its money back and was going to cost too much to keep working on.

Because lets be honest, every console company has shown that they're willing to release a game they probably knew didn't deliver a great experience just to make a few bucks.

Nem Azzanation (on 09 January 2017)

What the hell?! The Order is a good game. Just cause it was short it doesn't make it bad. It looked amazing too.
Devil's third was the first game from an inexperienced developer. It was also a very fun game, if rough in terms of animations and assets.
Recore i have not played.

Anyways, as rumors sugest, i don't think MS is innocent in this. It looks like a retelling of fabke legends. Someone at MS really wants to force multiplayer on single player games and keeps making unreasonable requests. Hopefully some other publisher goes to the rescue and scraps the multiplayer.

Normchacho Azzanation (on 09 January 2017)

Don't get me wrong, I liked The Order too and I'm still holding out hope for a sequel. I'm sure the other two games have their fans as well but they're undeniably critical failures.

My point is that even though they'd rather not, publishers are more than willing to release a game that they know isn't going to do well critically every now and again if they're confident they can still make money on it.

So, it's highly unlikely that MS looked at Scalebound and went "This game isn't good enough for our fans, lets stop working on it." and highly likely that they went "This game is costing too much money and it isn't going to gain us anything by releasing it, lets stop working on it."

  • +3
Nem Azzanation (on 09 January 2017)

Well... of course. But i think that was more cause the game was still far from completion. But, they may be responsible for that state of affairs aswell.
It's a partnership that fell through.

So, i don't think MS did it out of the kindness of their hearts and care for the fans, but rather because they didn't think they would recoup the money they would still have to put on it for it to be a releasable title.

  • +2
Normchacho Azzanation (on 09 January 2017)

Yeah, we 100% agree on that.

  • +1
Azzanation Azzanation (on 10 January 2017)

I agree aswell. It seems like a budget/profit problem. Its a buisness afterall and the buisness is more important than 1 game. MS would be experts on turning a profit every year. They know whats best for there company. Clearly SB wasnt a good option. Not for the budget and time required to create it. This game doesn't seem cheap to make. Recore on the other hand was low budget hence it was made using UNITY as a give away.

KazumaKiryu (on 09 January 2017)

If enough people write Platinum Games and Square Enix(new publisher then), the game could appear on PS4. That would be good for all. It's up to you

  • -6
naruball KazumaKiryu (on 09 January 2017)

Don't think they can use any of that. The whole IP and the content they created probably belongs to MS.

  • +10
Chazore KazumaKiryu (on 09 January 2017)

it would be good for all if it wasn't exclusive to just PS4. It would be better if other systems and their user bases were able to play it as well.

Microsoft finally realizing that we Xbox fans don't care about Japanese gaming.

So, I'm genuinely wondering, how do you feel your Xbox purchase has panned out so far? By that I mean how have you enjoyed the two of those games that have released? Because realistically neither of them set the world on fire. But hopefully your experience has been different.

That's good. I've been lucky with the games I wanted an Xbox One for so far (except Halo 5...) and I have SSO I just haven't been able to get to it yet. Have you picked up other exclusives that you've enjoyed for the system yet?

That stinks. I was going to say that Gears and Forza Horizon 3 are both really good games. I don't know how the whole game is, but the demo for Recore sucked to me. There's Halo Wars 2 and Cuphead coming this year though...

I agree with this. Okami was good, but I;m not a fan of PG at all. I don't know how anyone can be. Those beyoneta games are abysmal.
