I have a question to VGC : considering the margin error of VGC data, could we say PS3 and 360 are flat (equal) from last year ? less than 1% and 2% seems far too low to be considered "down" with the margin error...

Those are the numbers, and if they show it down then it's down ... I don't know what you want me to do?

Im expecting microsoft to go for the 8 year life cycle and sony for 6-7, i dont see either going much past that.

That's likely going to be the duration as a primary console. PS2 is still selling, and I bet PS3 will still sell for 3 years or longer after the PS4 is released.

To be honest, I just want 360 and Ps3 sales to crash, this generation should be over by now. Not too many games coming out in 2012, and the few not niche titles are sequels, and the generation just feels saturated, and old. No one is making new IP's any more, not even Sony or MS.

I know you wanted a 10 year lifecycle, but the innovation and quality is gone. Kinect is life support, and really it shouldn't be. Wii U is coming at the perfect time.

it is over when WiiU launch I am pretty sure if WiiU Launch is successful then PS3 and 360 need to get some Rare Candies and evolve or they will be defeated before it to late.

It won't end immediatly. I think this gen should have ended...well this year. Assassin's Creed 3 should have come out this year, not another expansion. Last Uncharted, Last Killzone, Last LBP, Last Gears, Last Forza, Last Modrn Warfare, and a few gems to top off the cake. There shouldn't be any more sequels, I'm tired of playing the same game I played 2-3 years ago.

With the 5 year lifespan we rarely saw trilogies on one console, and now it's seems to have become a standard. It's lame, developers care more about graphics then new game ideas.

The consoles sales don't need to crash they just need to sell less. We're already seeing games like BF3 being much better on PC. We need new consoles at the latest early 2013.

I just hope, in the end, both HD consoles are up YOY.
