Ace Combat and Just Dance launched this week in Japan, and each title sold quite well, and far better than preorders had indicated before launch. Total software sales remained fairly quiet outside of the new releases from this week and last week.

11) F1 2011 - 12,000
12) Forza Motorsport 4 (X360) - 11,000
13) Atsumete! Kirby (DS) - 9,000
14) Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Tag Force 6 (PSP) - 8,000
15) Monster Hunter Portable 3 (PSP) - 7,000
In addition to the games above, Wii Sports Resort (Wii), Dark Souls (PS3), Eiyuu Densetsu: Ao no Kiseki (PSP), Pokemon Scramble (3DS), and Family Fishing (Wii) should end up in the final top 20 data for the week.
Namco-Bandai had the big game of the week, as Ace Combat topped 160,000 units on the HD platforms. The surprising performance however was Just Dance, which opened at 125,000 units even as preorders only reached about 40,000 units on the even of release. Going forward, Ace Combat should fall off pretty quickly, particularly with a 3DS version coming, while Just Dance could see a very long tail, particularly with Nintendo publishing the game for Ubisoft in Japan. Wii, X360, and PS3 all look up a bit based on what has happened to software in the preliminary data, particularly as Ace Combat has previously been responsible for one of the major X360 hardware pushes of recent years (it pushed X360 to 18k from 3k in Nov 2007). Wii could also see a nice extended lift from Just Dance, as this game is really the first successful attempt to establish the dancing genre on Wii in Japan.
Preorders continue to look interesting in Japan, with Monster Hunter 3 for 3DS at 140,000 preorders now, still nearly two months out from release. Final Fantasy Type-0 for PSP has about 150,000 preorders in Japan, but the game is now releasing. An opening of 225,000 - 300,000 looks likely. As for other major holiday games in Japan, currently Final Fantasy XIII-2 for PS3 has 50,000 preorders, Mario Land 3DS has 40,000 preorders, Kirby's Dream Land and Skyward Sword for Wii each have 30,000 preorders. Fortune Street, Michael Jackson, Ace Combat 3DS, Ninokuni (PS3), and several major Vita games should also begin showing up in the top preorder list over the coming weeks.

It would be massive if the 3DS MH did not outsell the most recent console MH. Regardless of userbases on their respective platforms, even the early MH PSP iterations did much better than the previous console versions.
Good numbers for MonHun... mario 3d land, mario kart 7, monhun, new love plus, zelda & kirby & pokepark... ninty fans in Japan are going to have a very busy holiday...
Yeah I don't see Ace Combat pushing 360 up quite as much this time around. I doubt it'll do much for PS3 either, might hold it steady.

FFXIII-2 [PS3] at only 50k? The X360 version must have something like 7, I think. This one might actually do better in the West.
oh shit...Tyoe-O is coming...hmm but i thought it would make at least 400k first week...im always there for a suprise...
Forza number looks low (11k) compared to Forza 3's (31k) but remember Forza 4 released at the end of the week with only a day or two to sell where Forza 3 released at the start of the week.
Also, WTH Just Dance 1 is only just coming out to Japan? WOW, and it still manages to be one of Wii's biggest debuts! I wonder if Just Dance 2 and 3 can help keep Wii alive next fall.

Don't forget Final Fantasy franchise is saturated in Japan. The next big thing in the franchise is Versus XIII and XIII-2. The rest will get the spin-off treatment within the public.
I think Type-0 preorders are undertracked. The PSP is still a beast in japan, and the fact that there wasn't any big hit lately is also a good reason to buy the game. Should do 500k FW.....less would be a disappointment.
300 000 opening for Type-0 would be huge disappointment when it has gotten same care in development as main entries and PSP has huge install base in Japan. I thought it could do over million opening easily.

xxx game on ps3 sold great but will fall off the radar fast...xxx game on psp is releasing soon with these numbers..and x game on 3ds is also releasing but with higher numbers soon... LOL
