Here's some unexpected news: Warner Bros. announced that the Blu-Ray of Green Lantern will include a PS3-exclusive skin for Batman: Arkham City. The skin is Sinestro Corps. Batman, where the Dark Knight dons a yellow ring and becomes a Yellow Lantern, which happened for all of just a few panels in DC's Blackest Night before Batman rejected it. There have been no official images of the skin, but it will probably look something like this:
Warner Bros. doesn't really seem to be promoting this feature all that much, which is odd, since there is a whole audience of completionist gamers (like me) who are totally willing to throw down for a not-that-great movie to get an Arkham City skin. Green Lantern didn't do so hot in the box office, so Warner Bros. should be doing all that they can to make the Blu-Ray/DVD look attractive to customers. Then again, I'm one of the few who actually kinda dug the Green Lantern movie, so this shouldn't be a hard purchase for me.
This follows other Blu-Ray/PS3 cross promotions that Sony has done recently, such as including the Resistance 3 beta with Blu-Ray copies of Battle: Los Angeles, and including a trailer for Twisted Metal with the Blu-Ray copy of Priest.
Personally, I think these are great marketing tactics, but I can understand those that would disagree. What do you guys think? Let us know in the comments!
