Mega Man Legends 3 Officially Cancelled
by Nicholas Taylor, posted on 19 July 2011 / 1,373 ViewsFans wishes came true back in September of last year, when Capcom announced perhaps the most anticipated video game sequel besides Shenmue 3, namely Mega Man Legends 3. The game was set for the Nintendo 3DS... That's right, was.
Today, Capcom have announced that the game has been officially cancelled. You can see the full message at our source, but here are a few snippets.
"Unfortunately it was not felt that the Mega Man Legends 3 Project met the required criteria, and it is with regret that we must announce that the Mega Man Legends 3 Project has been cancelled, meaning that Capcom will not be releasing the Prototype or the full game. Additionally, updates of the Mega Man Legends Developer Room will cease as of today, though the North American Developer Room and its forums will remain open indefinitely."
They go on to say that "We can only express our deepest apologies to all of you who have lent us your unending support, including participation in the Mega Man Legends 3 Developer Room. On behalf of the entire Legends team, please accept our sincere apology for failing to meet the expectations of the fans."
This marks the second Mega Man game to be cancelled in a fairly short amount of time, the previous one being Mega Man Universe. Capcom claims that Keiji Inafune's departure has nothing to do with the game's cancellation.
It's sad to see such an anticipated title get announced, only to get pulled out from underneath its fans once more. Give us your opinions in the comments section.
