E3 2011: Crytek's Codename Kingdoms Announced as Ryse

by Karl Koebke, posted on 06 June 2011 / 706 Views

One of the most mysterious and anticipated games from last year's Microsoft E3 conference has finally been given some details at Microsoft's 2011 E3 conference.  Codename Kingdoms is actually named Ryse and is set in Rome during what appears to be its fall. You are the controller as you use Kinect to fight through mobs of enemies in the midst of an ancient Roman war.  Controls looked somewhat similar to other fighting games that have been made for Kinect but with a more visceral and violent nature brought on by a fight to the death.

Questions still remain such as how character movement will work in the game and the exact release date, so keep your browsers locked to gamrFeed throughout the week as we continue our E3 coverage.

NotStan I pray you're right.

Kinect core titles seem like less fun than kinectimals does. Kinect is revolutionary way to control the tech in your room, but I don't think that games like this warrant waving your arms around.

Kain - Yeah, as I understood it, it will also have controller support, I believe the Crytek representative also mentioned it later after the conference had concluded and was just chatting casually.

The graphics looked amazing, but CryEngine games always do. The Kinect controls seemed to work but I'm hoping a controller option will be available.

There was a video at the MS E3 2011 conference, just figured I'd put in a bit of my own thoughts on it.
