The Last Story Set For Western Localisation, Says Sakaguchi
by Nicholas Taylor, posted on 31 May 2011 / 1,949 ViewsHironobu Sakaguchi, known to many as "The Father of Final Fantasy", has said that his latest game created with his current team at Mistwalker Studios, The Last Story, is set to be released outside of Japan. Evidently, Sakaguchi made these comments during a recent visit to Paris.
Though Nintendo did say back in January that they had "no plans" to release The Last Story outside of Japan, not only Sakaguchi is disputing this, but not even 24 hours earlier, a representative for Nintendo UK mentioned that it was being localised at the MCM Expo last weekend.
The Last Story was released for the Nintendo Wii on January 27th of this year in Japan, and if an international release is to happen, you can certainly expect an official announcement to take place at E3 next week.
@curl-6 & Aiddon - I agree with you about Final Fantasy XIII. The FF franchise has been going downhill since FFVII. I haven't played FFXIII yet, but FFX and FFXII were still good, just not great. Still Tales of Vesperia/Xillia offer strong competition, and Lost Odyssey especially too!
now that make me happy day one for me!! oh btw dont forget about 2 other gem - xenoblade - pandora tower 2 other game that i will buy if it release in USA
Good. I see no reason why they wouldn't localise his, either. It's not like Wii has tons of gems coming out this year...
being better than FFXIII is a pretty low hurdle to clear. It was by far one of the worst examples of its series and genre at least for this gen. Anyway, looking forward to this. I liked Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey so I have high hopes for this
@Michael-5: In my personal and humble opinion, FXIII was garbage. I'll be very disappointed if this game isn't considerably better.
@z101 - lol. Wii gets 3 OF THE best JRPG's this gen. Lost Odyssey was a much bigger project then this game and also FFXIII, Tales of Vesperia/Xillia, Star Ocean, Valkeria Chronicles, Demon Souls, Dark Souls, Folklore, Infinite Undiscovery and even Blue Dragon (it's also his project) offer steep competition. You can't say for certain that the upcoming Wii JRPG's are better then all those, but they damn well are proper traditional JRPG's that I'm dying to play.
This is awesome Hironobu Sakaguchi hasn't directed a game since FFV, and it's good to see his developed game come to western shores. Also I love many of the projects he has produced or supervised (Lost Odyssey, Super Mario RPG, Chrono Trigger, and XenoGears to name the bigger ones). I hope this game is as good as Lost Odyssey, finally Wii is getting some true hardcore JRPG's (This, XenoBlade, and Dragon Quest X). Going to be an awesome time for Wii.
I'll let Bart Scott say how I feel about this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBaYVo89mmY&feature=related
LOL to anyone who thinks this is one of the best, at least wait till one actually plays the game before making that judgement
