Speaking to Variety, Jean de Rivieres, senior VP of international marketing and distribution at Ubisoft Motion Pictures said that the movies being produced aim "not to diversify but to bolster the appeal of our franchises -- that's why we want to make sure our films will reflect the brands accurately and consolidate our fan base while expanding beyond the games' primary target audience."

The first three movies planned by the new division are based on Ubisoft's three most successful properties: Assassin's Creed, Splinter Cell,  and Ghost Recon. Head of the division, former EuropaCorp CEO Jean-Julien Baronnet said they have been working with each games' producer and marketing team to make sure storylines are consistent, saying "We want to keep ownership, retain control over the film content, and we're open to work with studios on the development of our projects, and eventually collaborate on the pre-casting, pre-budget and script."

There has been much interest in the properties in hollywood, and representatives from Ubisoft Motion Pictures will be headed there next month to meet with studios. The division will utilize resources from Ubisoft, working with some of its 23 studios on the 3D projects.

Though it is unclear as to when we may actually see the movies Ubisoft is working on, de Rivieres did say "We will have a script ready by the end of the year."
