Namco-Bandai Meets Projections, Profits in Year to March 2011 - News
by VGChartz Staff , posted on 10 May 2011 / 3,320 ViewsData for Namco-Bandai's fiscal year to March 2011 has arrived. After projecting revenue of 395b Yen and profit of 1.8b Yen for the year to March 2011, Namco-Bandai has reached those figures almost exactly. Revenue reached 394.178b Yen ($4.88b) and profit reached 1.848b Yen ($22.9m) for the fiscal year. During the prior fiscal year, Namco-Bandai had lost $370m on revenue of $4.68b, so revenue and profit both improved nicely in the year to March 2011.
In the quarter ending March 2011, Namco-Bandai revenue reached 106.148b Yen ($1.31b), with roughly a $23m loss given profits from April to December 2010 were higher than from April 2010 to March 2011. For the March 2012 fiscal year, Namco-Bandai expects revenues to reach 400b Yen ($4.95b), up 1.5% from the March 2011 year, with profit expected to leap 333% - all the way to 8b Yen ($99m).
Namco-Bandai also provides games shipped by platform and a list of its major hits for the fiscal year. According to the company, the biggest hits were the following titles:
- Tekken 6 (X360, PS3) - 1.15m
- Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 (X360, PS3) - 1.10m

Other 0.566m 0.003m
3DS 0.300m 1.910m

Namco-Bandai expects roughly flat game sales in the March 2012 fiscal year, but the results will probably be better than what is shown if some NGP games are ready for launch in late 2011. The expectation of decline for all platforms, save for 3DS and PS3 is also interesting considering that Namco-Bandai has been pretty platform agnostic in recent years. Namco-Bandai is also somewhat regionally agnostic - the company now has 10-15% share on the global PSP market - simply by releasing big domestic titles for PSP, while the West sees far less concentrated support leading to smaller market share on other platforms.

Tekken 6 sold 3.3 million copies last time they made an announcement and has since sold another 1.15 million copies since? If thats so, thats a great figure and Tekken 6 has a been a huge hit.
