Flashback Creator Reveals New Playstation 3 Exclusive

by Alex Co, posted on 28 February 2011 / 2,737 Views

Remember Flashback? Remember how amazing its animation and graphics were way back? Keep that in mind as Flashback creator Paul Cuisset has revealed his Playstation 3 exclusive game.

The game is simply titled Amy. It is currently in development at VectorCell.  From the looks of it the game seems to be mixing horror themes with a little of Ico sprinkled in for good measure.

The game is set in December 2034 in a town called Silver City. When protagonist Lana regains consciousness, everything is in chaos as if struck by a deadly virus. Expect mudererous creatures and other morbid things to go after the protagonist. Sounds familiar? Here's the good part. We learn that Lana's infected and she has a companion named Amy, a defenseless little girl. Her prescence will force her to make choices that will change both their lives. Sounds intriguing, no?

In any case, we shouldn't have to wait too long to hear about Amy, as it's pegged for a release in Q2 2011 via the PlayStation Network.

I don't see this selling well. That brief writeup reminded me of Ico for some reason, and hopefully, it will have some interesting mood, because right now it kinda feels... holy, I just re-read the writeup and it said. "sprinkled with a little Ico". Ok, I'm excited. BUT, what makes Ico great is the mood and setting and beauty. Having to hold someone's hand doesn't a good game make.

Also, as I recall, Flashback was made by Delphine Software - a French company. I do believe that Heavy Rain is also made by a French company - Quantic Dream.... Perhaps Sony Corp. has developed a "French Connection" over the course of the years..... Just thinking out loud.....

This one announcement destroys Microsoft's "announcements" at GDC.

Cougarman (on 28 February 2011)

@kain_kusanagi, Flashback is owned by sony, it was the first sony game i ever played :)

kitler53 (on 28 February 2011)

another one? (exclusive i mean)

kain_kusanagi (on 28 February 2011)

Why is this PSN exclusive? Flashback was on all sorts of machines. At the very least it should get a PC release like Flashback, but there is no reason why 3rd party games should ever be exclusive to one HD console.

nsimberg (on 28 February 2011)

Flashback was amazing. I'm intrigued...

Now this bit of news greatly intrigues me! Flashback was one of my favorite Genesis games. In fact, if I remember correctly, you had to type in "cygnus" to watch the ending. I remember it took me about 2 weeks to get to the last sequence - and then another week to figure out the elevator to the escape ship was hidden. Man, for that week I must have dies a hundred times until I figured it out.
