Rumor: Devil May Cry Collection Headed to PS3/360

by VGChartz Staff, posted on 05 February 2011 / 3,605 Views

A lot of people were, shall we say, less than ecstatic about the new direction that the Devil May Cry series is taking in the unreleased DmC, including Dante's original creator, Hideki Kamiya. So let's dig up the past instead, shall we?

Rumors floating out of secret sources from Capcom suggest a Devil May Cry Collection for both PS3 and Xbox 360.  Presumably, this would include Devil May Cry 1-4, which would likely point to a two-disc release on the 360, at least.  Guessing HD upgrades of the three PS2 iterations, plus new achievements/modes/secret stuff?  It's all just speculation for now, including the rumored release date of "later this year."  We'll keep you posted as new info leaks in.

Between this, the Halo remake, and the Prince of Persia and Splinter Cell collections, are we living in the past too much?  Signs point to maybe.

Yeeeeaaahhh! Love these collections! And who cares if 360 gets them, it's not like it'll change any of the games. Where new games might get changed in developement to span multiple disks, these are individual and can fit a couple/few per disk. That being said, I'll be getting mine on the PS3. Love unlocking the platinum trophies, plus blu-rays are scratch resistant. Nothing ticks me off more that droping a DVD game, then never being able to play.

I don't understand why people are complaining that Capcom, a third party dev, is doing multi-platform games. It's in their best interest. More potential buyers means more money. What, it's good if Mass Effect 2 goes multi-platform, but not DMC 1-3. DMC4 it's successor are already multi-platform so why does it matter if the old ones get ported? It's not like Sony owns them. Capcom can do anything they want with their old games. Some people act like they can only enjoy a game if it's exclusive to their favorite console. Good games are good no matter how many platforms they get released on.

Capcom better make it exclusive for ps3 just so Americant _heroxbox can stop he's pathetic trolls... >_>

Bman54 (on 05 February 2011)

I love all these collections! Sure, they're easy cash-grabs, but I don't care!

Americant_heroxbox (on 05 February 2011)

wow ..old ps2 exclusive games in my xbox360 ,no need buy one ps2/ps3 ?.. thanks capcom .

oniyide (on 05 February 2011)

all these 3rd parties saw those insane GOW #s and is jumping on the bandwagon, good to see some things dont change. And i thought MS said they dont do HD ports??? some BS if true

Simulacrum (on 05 February 2011)

Please.

Vueguy (on 05 February 2011)

cool, i'll get it for the PS3. this time they better have trophies for DMC4 for PS3 version man. DMC4 didn't have trophies on PS3 and it didn't really have replay value because once you beat it, you can just replay and don't have anything to do and since it have no data and trophy, none of your friends on PSN know you have play DMC4 at all while the 360 version have achievements and once you complete the game, you can try for 1000/1000 to see if you can get 1000/1000.

halil23 (on 05 February 2011)

I can't see the logic how they would do it for xbox, but perfect for ps3 and even ngp!!

AbbathTheGrim (on 05 February 2011)

If it goes multi I rather not see its release.

Mojo (on 05 February 2011)

I have rewatched movie countless times and bought them on newer (ie. hi-def) formats. I have re-read favourite books and enjoy them just as much. I listen to most albums that I like repeatedly. Why shouldn't gaming be any different? Not to mention sometimes people miss out on good games the first time around. These collections are a great way to experience classic games.

Tbone (on 05 February 2011)

I have only played Dmc4 and i would buy it just because i want trophies on Dmc4 :-)

geddesmond2 (on 05 February 2011)

Lol the GOW collection has been the best looking HD Remake so far EYEAMTJ prepare to be disappointed

Michael-5 (on 05 February 2011)

I dunno if this would include DMC4, or if DMC4 is needed, but this is one collection I really want. I loved DMC3 and 4, and I would love to get HD remakes of 1 & 2 and get awards for it. If this comes out, I hope it comes out to NA as well.

jadakiss1217 (on 05 February 2011)

I rather have the remake of 1 and 3;DMC 2 sucked ass big time and almost killed the series

EyeAmTJ (on 05 February 2011)

If the games look like the God of War Collection I'll pass those remakes look like crap

geddesmond2 (on 05 February 2011)

I'm getting tired of these HD remastered titles. It was good when it first came along but now its just not another one.

Tbone (on 05 February 2011)

Plz Capcom do this.

Jedidiah-Rose (on 05 February 2011)

I hope this comes out and I hope it heavily outsells the new DMC game.

TheWon (on 05 February 2011)

So Capcom can remaster PS2 games with HD, but we can't get a Wii port of a PS2 game. Or at least a cool side story to Devil May Cry on the Wii.

kivi95 (on 05 February 2011)

Love this HD remakes as a missed a lot of games on the ps2.

hasanwhy (on 05 February 2011)

Nice, I like these remastered re-releases because it finally gives me the ability to great games of yester-year....and get trophies :p

Kaufer (on 05 February 2011)

So far all HD classics are $40 each with 2-3 games. 4 games in one bundle sounds too good to be true. I wont believe it unless the leaks comes from Amazon France.

Zlejedi (on 05 February 2011)

Good to see it.

ElGranCabeza (on 05 February 2011)

Wait. Who's thebitbag? And DMC 1-4? Lol this story is as bogus as it can be.

ElGranCabeza (on 05 February 2011)

Do.Not.Want.

ChichiriMuyo (on 05 February 2011)

I've never gotten why it's such a big deal to re-release video games. Every time a new movie format comes out the studios come out with new versions of their old movies. Hell, most of them don't even need a new format for a re-release. Going beyond that, no one complains when a book gets a second edition. A re-release is a chance for people to experience something they missed the first time around or to experience it again with (perhaps) a few minor modifications. If you don't want that experience then don't take it, but please don't act like a AAA title got cut to re-release old content for a new audience.

ssj12 (on 05 February 2011)

Nick - heck no, most modern games suck. Only the ones from quality devs are good and there are very few of those in the main industry.
