The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword "Over Half Complete"

When speaking with the site Pocket-lint, Shigeru Miyamoto himself said that the latest entry in the beloved Zelda-series, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is more than halfway complete.

His exact words were “What we are focused on is creating gameplay mechanics so the gameplay experience feels very dense. In fact, the overall experience is going to feel more dense. We hope that people will want to go back and replay the game once they finish it,”

He went on to say that “Of course, I am happy that motion is fashionable now. But when we make games, we are not trying to produce trendy products. It needs to be an experience that’s meaningful, and the motion control needs to add something; our new Zelda game takes motion control and adds something to the game to make you feel like you’re part of the adventure.”

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword was officially unveiled to the public at E3 2010 back in June, and even though Satoru Iwata had initially assured that the game would be out in 2010, it eventually got pushed back to 2011. Eiji Aonuma, the producer of the game, said that the team are currently working on the project with a 2011 release date in mind.

@Roar_Of_War Hey, I remember reading that the world of SS will be less vast than that of TP. I think dense here means many things, but one is certain: with less virtual space to garnish, expect very detailed environments, enemies and ai much more adapted to their environments, puzzles requiring much more use of surrounding items. Less areas means less music, less temples and less bosses, but each of these would be say 3 times as intricately designed, fun-wise (difficult puzzles, more hidden secrets) and graphics wise (lots of detail per surface, complex character movements, intricate twists in plot). Think rather than visiting more areas, Miyamoto wants us to visit the same areas but at different times for different reasons, because the areas hold much more secrets than before. Here is where I would extrapolate as well, since the game seems to follow a trend in density. Bosses will probably require more time and whit to beat, consider one boss to be 3 times as tricky as one from TP, or 3 times more intricately designed (graphics and movement wise). To me, dense = quality. And I think they're betting on higher replay value with a smaller, yet richer world than with a vast and mildly boring world. That's my take, and with that outlook the game is looking to be a masterpiece. Think Ocarina of Time, evolved. (Fingers crossed)

Is this interview new? Because after investigation was revealed that this interview with Miyamoto was right after E3. So, by this time is 4-6 months old.

Interesting. He thinks Skyward Sword will have replay value. That's a good sign, as long as he isn't just talking about motion control being the incentive to replay it. Also I doubt Skyward Sword is going to be an early 2010 release. With OoT 3DS releasing, I don't think they want two Zelda games to hurt eachothers sales by releasing too close to eachother. We'll have it August at the earliest, IMO.
