New Super Mario Bros. Sells 6 Million in Japan, Breaks Records
by VGChartz Staff, posted on 28 December 2010 / 3,015 ViewsNew Super Mario Bros. (the DS one, not the 4-million-sold-in-Japan Wii version) has just broken the 6 million units sold mark in Japan, making the four-and-a-half-year-old DS game the country's best-selling DS title, according to Japanese media tracking firm Enterbrain (Famitsu's parent company).
Further, NSMB has recently passed Nintendogs and become the highest-selling DS game of all time worldwide, with sales topping 24 million units. If anyone needed proof that 2D gaming isn't dead, this is it. Maybe the 142 million DS systems in the world helped his cause.
Oh Mario... 25 years old and still toppin' sales charts all over the place. What a guy.
