Blizzard: Diablo III is "Suited to Consoles"
by Nicholas Taylor, posted on 27 October 2010 / 2,893 ViewsBlizzard have never really been against releasing games on consoles; it's just that they haven't really gotten around to it. There's been a lot of talk and small tidbits regarding a console version of Diablo III, although nothing concrete has been said of anything but a PC version. Until now? Well, not really, but it certainly shows that Blizzard have been seriously considering it.
Senior designer Jason Bender mentioned, regarding Diablo III, that “I think it is suited to consoles.”
“We’re definitely working, obviously, on the PC version. This is something that’s been brought up a lot about Diablo.”
He added: “It’s sort of an ongoing question. And I’m sure we would all love to play it on console, but right now, we’re just focused on what we’ve got in front of us. Who knows what the future holds? It’s hard to say.”
Diablo has seen console releases before. The original Diablo was brought to the Playstation by EA in 1998, but Diablo II remained PC exclusive. Only time will tell what'll happen for the newest sequel in the franchise.

@gergroy A game pad doesn't suit everything... Most MMO's don't fit controllers imo. Racing games however are good with controllers. DIablo? Hell NO.
As long as I can play on higher res on computer, it's fine. Just don't nerf PC version for the sake of console, or, I'll hate you forever for ruining D3.
I cant believe this hasnt happened yet considering their partner in crime and every company in existence for that matter, even though d2 was pc only making d3 for hd consoles and pc makes the most sense business wise but this has to at least worry some that the game might be different than expected due to a focus on consoles as well as pc. I love when developers expand their audience as this is how gamers favorite games can be experienced by a majority of the gaming populace but lets just hope that d3 is made for pc first and maybe tweaked/altered to suit consoles afterwards to please everyone, or be doing that right now simultaneously.
@linkasf um, no, I care quite a bit about diablo III. The second one took almost a whole year of my life from me, and I loved it for it. However, I feel the gamepad fits gaming a heck of a lot better than a keyboard and mouse, so thats why I say it would be way better on the console.
I feel like those console guys that are commenting that want this game didn't give a rats ass about it until this article popped up :p
I very much doubt it'd outsell the pc version, but it should do well. But I vote a big HELL NO to this being ported.
i would enjoy this, it would also (more so than it already is) show the superiority of open online gaming is, such as psn, rather than closed online gaming, such as live.
btw...it would outsell the PC version, imho. I think iot would be a decent business move, but they would have to learn console progamming, and they might not be down for that...for one game. Now, if they plan on rolling out a new IP, or a Diablo 4 in 2-3 years....hmmm....
It's the only Blizzard game suited for consoles...but Blizzard is too busy to worry about a "Blizzard" level port, and they aren't going to let anybody else do it.
And if they make a console version i hope they make it so you can play with pc gamers.
As long as they don't dumb down the PC version... Hopefully they do it PC-only for now then later, only later try a console port.
This gets me worried that the game may actually not be as good... Please BLIZZ dont concentrate on the consoles right now, especially for a PC centric Franchise...
i had a friend who loved the first 2, hopefully i get the chance to play this, if its comes to consoles!!
