Steve's Anime Con Pics - Gaming in Full Force

Last week I attended a small anime convention in Kansas City, Missouri called “Motaku”. While not strictly related to gaming, the convention definitely had a gaming presence with some of its cosplay. For those that do not know, cosplay is the general term for dressing up as a character in whatever fandom you like, to both show support and adoration of that character. It comes from the Japanese method of cutting two words in half to make a portmanteau, so when you play around in a costume, "costume play" becomes "cosplay." I figured it might be fun to show off some of the costumes I saw there just to show how the two fandoms have basically merged.
Before I get to some of the better game-related costumes I saw, let me just saw that I really like small conventions. It was really fun going to panels and such in a smaller venue. In my expierience, a lot of the intimacy is lost at the larger conventions. I actually got to hang out with fellow VGChartz editor Chris Arnone on one of the days, and generally had a blast. The only real downside was that I’m pretty sure I witnessed some folks trying to procreate in the pool….ewwww….
