TGS 2010: Final Fantasy XIV Opening Trailer

by VGChartz Staff, posted on 15 September 2010 / 5,911 Views

Final Fantasy XIV's trailer from TGS has been revealed, although it's actually the first seven minutes of the game's opening. It's entirely CG and also epic; a good start, I'd say. The trailer shows off many of the areas shown in previously released screenshots, as well as some of the new characters and familiar monsters (Marlboro!).

Final Fantasy XIV will be releasing worldwide on September 30th for the PC, but PS3 owners will have to wait until March 8 next year to get their hands on this epic MMO.

@Soonerman: You do realize that this is FFXIV's introduction video and not a commercial for the game, right? Oh, I guess you didn't. Even though it's clearly pointed out in the article. Seriously, it's like you've never ever seen an intro movie before. Tales of Vesperia doesn't play anything like what is shown in the intro movie, the same for any FF, any Tekken games, SF IV, and countless other games. In any case, your comment fails.

Beta is really fun. Can't wait to play this game!

Wow, that video sells you a product that won't look or feel like that at all! This is a summary of what an epic fight will look like. Front fighter characters slashing and around 5 seconds intervals, healers and magicians in the back throwing magic at 5 to 10 seconds intervals and that's it. Well done SE, you are selling your customers a total lie and failed to show how boring real gameplay is

Wow!! Unbelievable.

I like the game. Been playing the Beta for some time now, and the game feels both like a MMO and a regular story based FF. Can't wait to get my hands on the final product and play through the whole thing! Also, like Gilgamesh said, S-E really is the king of gaming CGI. I'd even say they're up there among the best in the entertainment industry.

Fantastic opening!

Square-Enix is the king of CGI! That was awesome.

Insanely epic. Too bad it is actualy an online game instead of a normal game or even a CG movie.
