GT past its sell by date? Judging by the Japanese who normally run all over GT games this is looking BAD for the GT franchise

Rainbird (on 04 October 2009)

It's hard to say how relevant the GT PSP number even is. Sure, on its own, it seems low, but without the download numbers, the retail figures are pretty meaningless.

outlawauron (on 03 October 2009)

@ Phrancheyez He's saying in reference to the late PS3 version outselling the 360 version in the first week.

ps3_jrpg_gamer (on 03 October 2009)

GOOD OPENING FOR ngs2 and not good for trinity universe

Phrancheyez (on 03 October 2009)

@binary Relatively almost as well as ToV PS3? No? Not even close? What are you talking about? Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 didn't even sell 30k units on the first day, ToV sold around 140k? I don't get what you're talking about.

binary solo (on 02 October 2009)

NGS2 should just about hit NGII LTD numbers in Week 1 total sales. Performing relatively almost as well as ToV PS3. Can't complain too much about that.

ClaudeLv250 (on 02 October 2009)

A lot of games, a lot of low sellthrough...

hanafuda (on 02 October 2009)

Well, I got GT PSP from the Playstation Store.

MonstaMack (on 02 October 2009)

Yikes low Cross Edge Dash sales, but apparently they don't expect it to sell much (They only shipped out like 11kish?). Wii Fit Plus should have legs and same for Gran Turismo portable.

Eventyr (on 02 October 2009)

The PSP Go isn't out until the 1st of November in Japan.

reptile168 (on 02 October 2009)

GT PSP did very good for a racing title in Japan.

Boutros (on 02 October 2009)

NHS2 did really bad. I was expecting a lot more.

kopstudent89 (on 02 October 2009)

yeah GT PSP not very good, but it wasnt expected to do great numbers. Wii fit plus good, nothin special though. But it will have legs so doesnt matter. Inazuma wow!!! i was expecting something big, but very very good

Sapphire (on 02 October 2009)

Inazuma eleven 2 MONSTER

Erik Aston (on 02 October 2009)

So 2 games could crush 200K this week, while GT PSP struggles to get 100K? Kinda surprising.

zexen_lowe (on 02 October 2009)

Sellthrough percentage (that is, sales over shipped)

Toddifer (on 02 October 2009)

Um, what do the percents in parentheses mean?

N.Genckel (on 02 October 2009)

Nice Inazuma 2 numbers! I really, really want an English version of those games soon. Feels like I've waited forever.

zexen_lowe (on 02 October 2009)

Not good for GT. Wow at Inazuma 2....Translate the first game, Level 5, dammit!!!!

leatherhat (on 02 October 2009)

I wonder what the download numbers look like for Gran Turismo

shams (on 02 October 2009)

Hmmm... interesting thought: With the PSPGo launching, is this the official "death" of PSP retail software sales? Will tracked software plummet (further) from here onwards? (its worse than the PS3 online store, because PSPGo *can't* play retail games!) Wonder how this will impact retailer PSP shipments going forward.

shams (on 02 October 2009)

I'm still in shock about GT PSP in general - I can't understand how such a big franchise, in dev over so long has turned out to be a stellar AAA title. 50k day#1, for a probable front-loaded title is not good... Pretty solid start for WiiFit+ - another expected 1m seller for Japan, by the end of the year. And well done to "Inazuma Eleven 2" - its turning into another Pokemon (albeit a smaller one ;) - 180k day#1 seems terrific IMO.

snyperdud (on 02 October 2009)

Wii Fit + did well. GT did bad. NGS2 did bad. DW: Strikeforce did awful. ....yikes....

Star Scream (on 02 October 2009)

Interesting... Thanks for the info, Bruno. I wonder if GT PSP will have such legs...

XanderZane (on 02 October 2009)

outlawauron says: Flops all around. ************************************** Yeah.. I agree. GT (PSP) didn't do much. I was going to get it until I read all the reviews. I thought it would be much greater then GT4, but it was a step back. I'll pass. Thank God Forza 3 is coming out soon. I should pick up DiRT 2 and NFS: Shift while I wait.

axumblade (on 02 October 2009)

Decent sales for Gran Turismo, Ninja Gaiden and Wii Fit Plus. Hope they all do well. I know I'm planning on getting all 3

Zucas (on 02 October 2009)

Pretty good sales for Wii Fit Plus, Inazuma Eleven 2, and Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2. Everything else seems to be not so hot but we'll see how they finish off the week first.

Star Scream (on 02 October 2009)

Are you sure? Sinobi says it sold 50,000 on day one, so less than GT PSP. I always thought it sold ~300,000 LTD?

Bruno Muņoz (on 02 October 2009)

I wouldn't worry about GT5, the Prologue with the bundles sold over 500k units.

Star Scream (on 02 October 2009)

Impressive IE2 sales, higher than most people predicted. GT sold slightly more (6,000) than GT5 Prologue, as expected. I'm starting to wonder about the strength of the franchise in Japan. Pretty good sales for Macross, this could become one of the best selling Macross games (if not THE best selling).

atma998 (on 02 October 2009)

This GT flop isnt very promising for GT5 in Japan. I also expected more from Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 and Wii Fit Plus. Hopefully one of those two games should have good legs. Amazing numbers for Inazuma Eleven 2. DS is a monster!

Bruno Muņoz (on 02 October 2009)

Horrible sales for almost all releases. - Amazing for Inazuma Eleven 2, the first title sold 41k in its first week, I'm happy for Level 5. - The standalone version of Wii fit Plus will sell its first shipment during the week. - Very disappointing sales for Gran Turismo in its first day though it will probably have legs. - Flat Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 sales, it is not a surprise because this franchise is not big in Japan. - Trinity Universe bombs because PS3 users no longer want more niche games they deserve big jrpg's.

LokeSTL (on 02 October 2009)

@Dark Odin Yeah, I was hoping it would do better. I'm sure they'll line it up after they get Atelier Rorona and Last Rebellion on the move here in NA.

outlawauron (on 02 October 2009)

Flops all around.

MasterVG71782 (on 02 October 2009)

GTP may have did poorly according to this chart, but the game was also made available for download, so unless we see some sort of figure for that (or a statement from SCEJ or PD), there's no telling how many were actually sold overall. Still, though, it is rather lower than expected, which can hold the same for Strikeforce and Trinity Universe. I think Cross Edge might have left a bad taste in the mouths of RPGers (even though I love the game).

Dark Odin (on 02 October 2009)

bad numbers for trinity universe. but if cross edge came to NA, so I think itīll too...

saicho (on 02 October 2009)

Inazuma Eleven 2 did amazing... should sell more than Wii Fit + this week GTP did alright but would have been outsold by Macross Ultimate Frontier this week if the later was shipped more units. NGS 2 did about the same as the first one. Might sell less overall though.

Hyruken (on 02 October 2009)

Wow pretty bad GT sales there. With so many PSP's in the wild would of expected at least double that. NGS2 did shit too by the looks of it.

huaxiong90 (on 02 October 2009)

Meh.

Marco (on 02 October 2009)

Very good for 2 ps3 games

HelloMotto (on 02 October 2009)

does famitsu track DL numbers for Gran Turismo too??

Avinash_Tyagi (on 02 October 2009)

One reason The Wii fit Balance board version may be doing poorly, is that Wii fit and Wii fit plus standalone are cheaper together currently than Wii fit plus with BB, at least on Amazon japan, so it would make more sense for people to buy the two separately, as long as there are still original Wii fits available

hunter_alien (on 02 October 2009)

Inazuma had an amazing start IMO... better then expected. It seems that GTPSP hyas a slower start, tough its not totally unexpected, especially that we dont have DL numbers for it ;-)

samus aran rules (on 02 October 2009)

My god DS is on fire in Japan right now! That is huge numbers for Inazuma Eleven 2! Both versions put together at 173 k first day with very good salethrough. Inazuma Eleven debuted with 41 k first week! Itīs easy to say that this game so far is performing over expectations. Could very well be the top selling release of the week. Wii Fit + is doing good I think. First day sales are less than WSR but still respectable and it should do great in the long run with mighty legs. Gran Turismo is underperforming in my opinion. I donīt think many expected Inazuma Eleven 2 to beat this one first week but it will. It looks like even Macross could beat it which on the other hand is doing fine with great salesthrough.

johnsobas (on 02 October 2009)

pretty sad numbers for GT, i suppose people don't see it as a real GT even though handhelds are so strong in Japan. I didn't expect too much when i saw famitsu's prediction of 200k sales, but this may not even make that. NGS2 looks like it's gonna sell a little less than the first, not bad though. I'd expect more from dynasty warriors although i don't know much about this specific game, sellthrough is kind of a bad sign though. Wii Fit Plus has has good numbers, it should sell very well over the weekend as well. The stand alone may nearly sell out the first shipment over the weekend, nice.

routsounmanman (on 02 October 2009)

Great for Wii Fit + and Inazuma 2 Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce seems too low though!
