Horizon: Zero Dawn Turns 1, Sales Top 7.6 Million Units Worldwide - News

Today marks one year since Horizon: Zero Dawn hit store shelves.

Guerrilla Games has announced the game has sold more than 7.6 million units worldwide. This makes it the best-selling new first-party franchise launch on the PlayStation 4 as of February 28.

"We had huge ambition for Horizon: Zero Dawn and as we approached the launch we knew people were excited, but to see sales of this volume is truly mind blowing," said Guerrilla Games' co-founder and managing director Hermen Hulst.

"Since launch, millions of players have joined Aloy on a quest to discover the secrets of the old ones. We hope they enjoy playing Horizon: Zero Dawn as much as we enjoyed making it."

The developer will release tomorrow on the PlayStation Store a free bundle of PlayStation 4 avatars, as well as a PlayStation 4 theme.

Horizon Zero: Dawn Complete Edition is available for 30 percent off through March 6. PlayStation Plus subscribers can get it for 35 percent off. The Modern Icons Aloy statue will also be 25 percent off for the entire month of March.

Horizon: Zero Dawn released for the PlayStation 4 in North America on February 28, in Europe on March 1 and in Japan on March 2.

This puts GG into the big leagues, and probably now the 2nd biggest Sony WWS developer after ND. (They were 7th place last generation). There looks to be more gamers crying out for new unique action role playing experiences rather than FPS's at the moment, and GG delivered.

SO deserved, my joint goty with Hellblade in 2017.
Had a really good setting and story and probably the best most diverse combat in any open world RPG. Congrats guerilla

Nah nah nah, 3-5 million would be very good sales. These are sales on par with some of the best-selling single player games out there like Uncharted and Final Fantasy games.

This is great news! I loved Horizon Zero Dawn, best game I played on the PS4 last year. This game and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild are my favorite games I played last year =)

Horizon is my personal GotY. I’ll definitely be giving Zelda a shot at some point. Just holding out until Nintendo releases a GotY edition that includes all the DLC.

I need to get the DLC for Horizon! I just got so many games to play like AC Origins and Nier! I can see Nintendo release a GOTY Edition for Zelda by end of this year or beginning next year.

Good on them, just goes to show that you don't need to turn to underhanded tactics to make a prosperous and profitable game. Cough Cough EA

While I barely consider HZD a top 5 game of 2017 - it was a huge step in the right direction for Guerrilla - also much like Witcher 3, they handled their expansion very well. Good work - great to see it appreciated.

Wow, I thought 7 million man but close to 8 million??? I KNEW there were a lot of digital sales for this one and this statement proves it. VGCz is nowhere near these statistics so I'm even assuming many of these digital sales are from the US too.
Hell yeah, now THAT'S what I like to see. A stunning cinematic game like this do well. Well done people!
