Farming Simulator 17 Sells an Estimated 680K Units First Week at Retail - News

The farming simulation game from Focus Home Interactive and Giants Software - Farming Simulator 17 - sold 680,290 units first week at retail, according to our estimates. First week sales can be viewed on the VGChartz Global Weekly Chart for the week ending October 29.

Breaking down the sales by platform, the game sold best on Windows PC with 381,294 units sold (56%), compared to 232,921 units sold on the PlayStation 4 (34%) and 66,075 units sold on the Xbox One (10%).

 

Breaking down the sales by region, the game sold best in Europe with 546,233 units sold (80%), compared to 65,748 units sold in the US (10%). Looking more closely at Europe, the game sold an estimated 19,110 units in the UK, 271,499 units in Germany, and 55,482 units in France.

Farming Simulator 17 released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC worldwide on October 25.

Those Germans sure do like their farming.
These numbers are unbelievable to me. 381K units on PC, on RETAIL?? Aren't most PC games bought on Steam nowadays? So that means this probably sold more than 1m on PC alone? Ridiculous. Meanwhile, Titanfall 2 is struggling. :)

Looking at comments of folks who actually play FS, this is basically FS 2015 with some minor tweaks (that exist as mods for FS2015)...and apparently, it's the same engine from ages ago. So yeah, amazing sales with most likely amazing profit.

Some people like the farm life but they know it's hard work. It's much easier to make a digital farm than a real life farm.
