PS4 vs Xbox One vs Wii U USA Lifetime Sales – December 2015 Update - Sales

Looking at the total sales of the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Wii U in the US in December shows how close the race is between the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. However, the gap has grown in favor of the PlayStation 4 during the holiday period and the gap has grown to nearly 1.4 million units.
The PlayStation 4 crossed the 12 million mark and the Xbox One passed the 11 million mark, and the Wii U passed the five million mark. The PS4 has sold 12.53 million units lifetime in the US, the Xbox One 11.17 million units, and the Wii U 5.20 million units.
Taking a look at the marketshare, the PlayStation 4 tops the other two platforms. The PlayStation 4 has a 43 percent market share, the Xbox One sits at 39 percent, and the Wii U 18 percent.

Xbox One Total Sales: 11,172,750
Wii U Total Sales: 5,201,129

The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One have both outsold the Wii U every month in the US since they released in November 2013. The PlayStation 4 has outsold the Xbox One for two straight months. The PlayStation 4 outsold the Xbox One by 210,057 units for the month and the Wii U by 1,110,225. The Xbox One outsold the Wii U by 900,169 units.
When you compare monthly sales to a year ago the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 are up, while the Wii U down. The PlayStation 4 is up 513,629 units, the Xbox One is up 106,101 units, and the Wii U is down 104,535 units.
Looking at market share for the month of December, the PlayStation 4 managed to achieve 46 percent. The Xbox One accounted for 40 percent of the consoles sold, and the Wii U a modest 14 percent.
