While the price of Sony’s PlayStation VR is still unknown, Shuhei Yoshida claims that it will not initially be priced at a profitable level.
When asked about the strength of Sony's virtual reality offering versus over the other virtual reality devices Yoshida said, “We are bringing a console mentality and also making developers test it fully before using their content. We tend to price hardware not to make money from it but to get as many install base so that content can be sold. This is the same kind of thinking in the way we are approaching PlayStation VR."
So while the exact price of the device remains a mystery, at least fans can rest easy knowing they won’t need to get a second job in order to afford one.

It makes sense, PSVR will push peripherals, VR software and PS4s, which as a side effect will push console games. The Oculus is in troubles. In order to match the PSVR price they will have to include advertizing on their product and that is not going to turn out well.
Cool, I'll buy this instead of the XB1 I've been saving up for.
As always Software and online services will make the profit but its a good thing they don't push the price even more.

I don't think any VR option is going to be cheap, reeling back the price as much as they can is smart to get it into peoples hands. I'm on the fence... in that I'd like to play with VR, but if it's got a price tag of ~$299 then it's just not happening.
Hopefully anything $300 or below so it won't be hard for anyone to jump in if they want at a affordable price.

I think you guys are forgetting the ps3 was priced as best it could be to sell. Original cost like 90 .

I dont understand the downvotes.Sony trying to get the price down dosnt mean its going to be either affordable or cheap.We will need to wait and see for a official news of the price to be sure
