Splatoon Crosses 1 Million Units Sold - News

Splatoon has sold more than 1 million copies, according to the game's official Japanese Twitter account:

Nintendo has also released a new Japanese commercial for Splatoon to mark the milestone. You can view it below:

In our review of Splatoon, Brent Galietti concluded:

“Splatoon is an impressive game that takes the standard conventions of the shooter genre and tosses its own fresh coat of paint on it. The fun and wacky excitement of inkling-turned-squid ink combat sounds like a bizarre concept, but it works so well that it entertains for hours on end. Splatoon may not be everyone’s favorite fish in the sea, but for those looking for a fun multiplayer game on Wii U, this is a great catch.”

It’s good to see a new IP from Nintendo doing so well. Hopefully, this encourages the company to continue making more games in the Splatoon universe and investing in more unique experiences.

I can see 2.5m by the end of the year. They achieved 1.5 in less than a month. And they still have holiday coming up. Which everything sells amazing during the holiday.

Kewl. This has definitely exceeded those early expectations from the e3 before last... Nice that Nintendo has a fun new IP that isn't a platformer (though there's plenty of fun platforming in it lol)
