Top 10 in Sales - EA Sports Games - News
by William D'Angelo , posted on 05 June 2012 / 37,008 ViewsWelcome to the ‘Top 10’ weekly feature. Each week we will be taking a look at the top 10 selling games in a particular genre, platform, most recent month, even sprinkling in the top 10 selling games from a past year. All sales specified will be worldwide, unless stated otherwise.
In the last five weeks we have taken a look some of the biggest publishers, first party and third party. This week we will be continuing the same theme and will be looking at EA Sports. If there is a particular top 10 you want to see leave a comment and it may be featured in a future top 10.

Looking at the top 10 bestselling games published by EA Sports, seven of the games are for the PlayStation 2, two for the PlayStation 3, and one for the Wii. There are four FIFA games in the top 10, the two bestselling ones are for the PlayStation 3, and the other two are for the PlayStation 2. The four games sold a combined 18.94 million units or 41.1 percent of the total games sold in the top 10. There are five Madden games in the top 10, all for the PlayStation 2. They have sold a combined 23.3 million units, or 50.6 percent of the total games sold in the top 10.
The top 10 games sold a combined 46.04 million units. The seven PlayStation 2 games sold a combined 31.62 million units, or 68.7 percent of the total games sold in the top 10. The two PlayStation 3 games sold a combined 10.62 million units, or 23.1 percent of the total games sold in the top 10.

Taking a look at the top 10 bestselling games published by Electronic Arts, the original FIFA Soccer 12 is the bestselling EA Sports game on a single platform, by outselling the second bestselling game by 560,000 units. Two of the top 10 games sold more than five million units and nine of the top 10 sold more than four million units. As a quick note 18 games sold more than three million units and 29 sold more than two million units.
As a side note and what is not surprising only three games in the top 30 is not a FIFA or Madden game. There have also been 103 games that have sold more than one million units.

I agree with JRock. They should just do a big update (rosters, new modes, etc.) yearly but a new full game every 3 or so years.
looking at these numbers I can't help but wonder if there is more money to be made for EA by going to a roster update for $20 and then a really new game with all new mechanics and engine every 3-4 years.
It's clear from the numbers that current generation gamers (at least in North America) have gotten wise to EA Sports' BS and aren't buying it anymore.
Thank god they are buying CoD every year ;-) Man the US gamer is sooo smart ;-)
