This version of Tetris was bundled with the Original Game Boy and ended up selling more than 30 million copies. Yes, it features only two modes and a single multiplayer mode. But do you need more than that? One of the modes is score-based while the other one is simply a matter of surviving, which is the same in the multiplayer mode.
There are 3 different songs (excluding or including the main menu song, depending on the version of the game) to choose, each one catchier than the other.
While the game doesn't offer any sort of arbitrary goal, getting to a million is usually a good challenge. There is also one aspect that, although not unique to this version, is a little less "traditional": unlike Panel de Pon in which the pieces fill the empty spaces, remaining pieces from "tetriminoes" are unnaffected by gravity. The result is that there are no elements such as chains and combos, good planning is essential - when the game allows, of course.
The "original" Tetris is still a great game even in its 20th anniversary. If you never got addicted to it, or worse, don't see what's special in Tetris, I'm terribly sorry, it must be awful!
