Recap Update: (~= around) MGS1 ~ 6.5 million (or +) MGS2 ~ 7.5 million (+) MGS3 ~ 4-4.5 million w worse than 2 due to 2 being a disappointment MGS4 ~ 4.5 million The thing I hate is Konami rapes Kojima like George Lucas Rapes Indiana Jones. Kojima loves his games like art and want best quality for them so he goes with Sonyware. While Konami striving for cash spreads the games clones on other systems. I'll admit that VGChartz is within +/-10% of real life (currently on the low side in this case), which has always been VGChartz goal. Statistically, VGChartz is right on the money, which is why the outcry's over under tracking are unfounded. Even so , last time MGS "series" shipments was at 4.5 millon.So now they increased the shipments to 4.75 million. Which means that at least some of these extra 250k copies , must be MGS4.......... So if they increased the shipments of MGS4 , well it means that this thing must be selling better than 10k a month...unless you want us to believe that konami is shipping 500k of MGS1,2,3 or MGS:PO copies....... So I went to konami's website ( http://www.konami.co.jp/en/news/ ) and pulled up the news and went to the February section and they had news from the 5th. Followed this link http://www.konami.co.jp/en/ir/ir-data/meeting/2009/0205.pdf and they have the metal gear series at 4.5m through December 08. To those claiming Konami's figures is same as sold to consumers. Publishers don't know how many copies are actually sold, all they know are shipped figures. For them shipped to retailer = sold. Publishers get their money from the game when they sell the game to retailers. Plus I have been told that there'll be some major surprises, and since my imagination is different from Kijoma's, I fear I might be disappointed by surprises that are different than I imagined. The heart of the problem is that they stated they shipped 4.5m copies of the metal gear solid series in 08. Series being the key word here, as they were shipping a collectors edition for the PS2 and probably other games (not sure what is still on shelves). Out of the 4.5 Million MGS stuff shipped, it is pretty much guaranteed that MGS4 itself, shipped more than 4.2 Million itself, i mean MGS1 2 AND 3 don't even chart now. Seeing as we are entering April, that should mean that at the very least, another 100k to 300k could have been shipped, making the total equal to or if not above 4.5 Million shipped just for MGS4. Now these are not concrete numbers by any means, but the fact that MGS4 is doing like 5k every week and games like HAZE are selling more than it now per week, says something. Guys, the difference is only 4% (30/700). Media Create and Famitsu often have larger differences than that WEEKLY. Just look at their Wii numbers for this past week. If it is undertracked (and from the looks of it, it probably isn't - at least not by much), they'll fix it eventually. It may not happen immediately, however, because (as Louie pointed out multiple times) Brett has pushed up the release of VGChartz 2.0 drastically. And if I remember correclty the shipment number reffered to the whole Metal Gear Solid series, didn't it? I personally think it must be insulting for Brett who puts so much effort into this site and these numbers when some rabbid fans claim it is "disgusting" or a "fail" when vgchartz uses its own sources. Get over it people. VGCHARTZ is great at tracking console sales, but it's harder to track video game sales. Still, it strikes me as odd of how many times ps3 games get adjusted down when both gears games were all but proven to be overtracked and this all but proven to be undertracked but they couldn't be bothered to adjust the sales.
