The best Mario Kart yet. So....How good is it?

Let me answer that question for you.  This is a very good game all around, simply put.  There are some very solid graphics, as usual with the Mario Kart series.  But, what's really new about this game that makes it better? Let's take a look.

Mario Kart Wii, for one thing, uses a variety of control methods to be compatible with anyone.  Anyone can pick up and play this game.  The controls work the same as all the other Mario Kart games; A is accelerate, B is break.  I won't explain the rest of them because of all the different control methods.

Most of the characters return from Mario Kart: Double Dash!! from the Gamecube.  There are also some additions.  There are 25 characters in total, which, considering there are only three classes of karts: the class that's heavy and slow to accelerate but has great handling and top speed, the class that is really lightweight and fast to accelerate, but has no room to speed up after that, and the "moderate" class that offers a balanced blend of both the other classes, I'm not sure that all of these are necessary, considering that only the karts make any sort of difference.  However, it is really neat to see normally obscure characters get their place to shine, like Princess Rosalina, from Mario Galaxy, Dry Bowser, from New Super Mario Bros., and even Funky Kong find his place here in the Mario Kart series.

The items, for the most part, remain the same, but their are a few new ones to speak of:  We've had the lightning bolt for a long time now, and we still have it, but we also have the thundercloud now.  It hovers above your head, and you have to run into somebody so that you can get rid of it, or else it will shock you, stunning you for quite a few seconds.  When you pass it on, the person you passed it on to will then get the same effect.  Another is one from Mario Kart DS:  Bullet Bill.  You can ride on him, and he will control you for a few seconds around the course, going at insanely quick speeds, and plowing through anyone who gets in your way.  that is probably the most helpful item in the entire game.

The tracks are ingenius, being some of the most creative I have ever seen in a racing game, far outweighing the ones in other Mario Kart games.  There are 16 new tracks as well as 16 tracks that have been graphically revived for the Wii, and are essentially retro tracks, making a total of 32 tracks, each being between 2 and 4 minutes long.  Even the older ones are more intuitive than ever before, with drastic graphic changes to accommodate for the Wii.

Graphically, this game, like most other Mario games, looks great.  It is highly detailed, bright, crisp, and clean, with a polished look.  Lighting effects have finally been mastered, and they look great.

Overall, Mario Kart Wii is definitely the finest in the Mario Kart series, and it makes sense that this game has sold so well (about 20 million copies; that's something to brag about!) Online is incredibly implemented into this game, far better than most Wii games so far, and there is no doubt that someone, somewhere, is always playing this game online.  You can do anything online that you can in the regular game.  There is even a seperate Wii channel for the game, so that you can even race people and do various things online with the game even if you don't have the disk in the Wii. And the entire package comes in a steady, silky-smooth 60 frames per second.

Overall, this is a great game, and I would recommend it to anyone who has a Wii.

Now at 35.81M, won't be surprised to see it reach 36M at some point.

This game is the video game form of Old Man Riverwalk. It just keeps on going and going and going.
