PS5 has gained a lot of ground over the last 12 months and looks like the gap is only going to grow bigger from here.

I'm not sure Sony will release a slim model this year but if they do, they'd better have a ton of stock lol

Rumor is Slim starts production soon and will be ready for Sept/Oct launch. The existing model could be shrunk already, so worst case, stock would be no lower than what we're seeing now.
If they use more advanced parts like a smaller APU, there should definitely be more stock than we're seeing now.

Oh really? This is the first time I'm hearing that rumor but it sounds pretty plausible to me.

Slim usually launches right around the 3 year mark, which would be holiday 2023, so the rumor seems pretty plausible as you say.
The existing internal hardware takes up much less space than the 2020 model, so with a little rearrangement Sony can go ahead and make a slimmer or smaller version with the internal parts they have right now.

Depends on if they want to wait for more advanced chip manufacturing which would let them slim it down even more. With rumors that Pro isn't coming and we're going straight to PS6, if this gen goes on for more than 6 years, Sony very well might want a third PS5 Super Slim model, so then little point in waiting too long now to slim it down any further if they're going to shrink again around 6 years into the gen.

If they do make a super slim PS5, I hope they don't cheap out on it like with PS3 lol
