This is a pretty massive get for Game Pass! Just League of Legends by itself gets 117 million monthly active players. And I'm sure many players don't want to pay thousands of dollars to unlock all 160+ champions lol

And Valorant's support is just getting started!

Seems everyone thinks this is a massive deal what am I missing? Aren't all these games free? I used to play Valorant on my PC free. Got tired of the sniper gun though and quit.

I mean, look at the benefits. The games are FTP, but the characters aren’t. Now all of sudden, every single champion in League, PC and mobile versions, and Valorant are at your disposal.

Ok that's pretty cool I wouldn't exactly equate it to a massive get but more content is always better for GP. I'll pass on these games as I had enough of them already but Chained Echoes just got added and that's where I'm headed next. Well maybe I'll wait for FF7 instead not sure yet.

I would love to know how much microsoft paid them for this, it must be a fucking insane number.

My guess is deal like this don't get a static amount but a dynamic one that get recalculated on the pro rata of hour played vs the total hours played on GamePass for said time frame.
Let say those titles achieve 2% of total hour played and MS reserve 30%(classic store cut) of GamePass revenue than that would mean this deal value is 2% of 70% or 1.4% of total GamePass revenue for a specific timeframe (likely a month or quarter).

You could well be right. Microsoft tailors the deals to the wishes of the publisher/developer. If the developer wants a flat up-front payment (to help get the game finished, for example), they'll try to negotiate one that both parties can agree too. But if the publisher would rather a monthly fee, or be rewarded by the number of downloads, or the number of times the game is booted up, or the number of hours of play, or any number of other metrics, they'll negotiate around those points instead. That's one of the reasons why some games come and go from Game Pass, and other stay for a long time. "Human Fall Flat" has been in Game Pass for years now, which it presumably wouldn't be had they just gone for a single up-front payment, for example.

It's in Riot's favour, if MS paid loads for the FREE portions of these games. What makes Riot money from is the skins or in LoR/TFT case maps, not champs or card packs.

Having all the champs from the get go is fucking insane, i played this game for YEARS and didnt had all the champs in the end.
And the xp boost is insane too.

Oh it is but the champs are certainly not the money makers for Riot. I too have most champs, the only ones I don't have are ones I have no interest in or have played from free rotation and decided they aren't for me. Never spent anything on the game but my time. XP means little, unless you just want to get to level 30, after that levels unlock level capsules which contain champs... which you will all own.

Not saying it's bad, not at all but Riot is in my view heavily in favour here. MS paid for the FREE stuff.
