Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa in the latest earnings call said the company is not currently considering a second price increase for the Nintendo Switch 2.

The company increased the price of the Switch in Japan on May 25 from 49,980 yen to 59,980 yen, followed by a worldwide increase on September 1.

In the US the price increased from $450 to $500, in Canada it went from $630 to $680, in Europe from €470 to €500, and in the UK from £396 to £420.

Nintendo in its latest earnings report announced it had shipped 2.67 million Switch 2 units for the September 2026 quarter for a lifetime total of 26.35 million units.

Not currently considering. Switch 2 has a long life ahead of it. I think at least one more price increase is on the way.

It's kinda sad honestly, with the way the world has been these past 6 years, we're at a point where instead of wondering when a price cut will happen for a new console we wonder how many times will the price get increased

PS4 and Xbox One might be the last platforms in history to have price cuts over time. The best we can currently hope for in upcoming consoles is that they hold their price and don't go up.

We should really demand better. We are where we are because we are too willing to accept this kind of treatment. Sadly us enthusiasts are not enough to make a difference beyond maybe the first years of a new system, and we're also probably more willing to pay too much.

You are correct. It's on us, not them. These are companies, after all. They exist to make money, and they're doing that. If we want consoles to decrease in time like they should, we need to put our foot down and make it happen by not buying them anymore. Since we don't, we only have ourselves to blame.

Exactly. Can't be contributing to a problem and complain about it too.

Really sad, not kinda sad.

yeah. really meaningless statement. They literally just raised the price in most of the world 2 months ago. Obviously they aren't gonna be considering already. But 12 months from now is entirely different.

Sounds like there was a good amount of profit margin even in the original price and/or they're willing to accept some losses.

Ofc they won't say this unless they are announcing it. But, they've stock on so much components i do think they are good for a little while.

"Currently" means, they are not considering it for the next 3 months. Just like "there are no plans to replace DS" and announcing 3DS three months later...

They're probably hoping that with the recent deflation signs in the AI bubble and the political backlash mounting against it that they can ride out the rest of this crunch until demand normalizes and supply expands. We'll see if they can, bit the success of their software will be a substantial factor.

"Nobody is considering building a wall" (between East Berlin and West Berlin)... two months later the building of the Berlin Wall began. ;-)
