Nintendo has released its latest hardware and software figures for the Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch 1 through September 30, 2026.

The Nintendo Switch 2 has shipped 26.35 million units to date, while 73.21 million Switch 2 games have been shipped lifetime.

Shipment figures for the Nintendo Switch 1 reached 157.20 million units, while 1,593.87 million Switch 1 games have been shipped lifetime.

For the quarter ending September 30, 2026, Nintendo shipped 2.67 million Switch 2 units and 0.61 million Switch 1 units shipped.

Breaking down the 26.35 million lifetime shipped figure for the Switch 2, it has shipped 9.00 million units in the Americas, 5.85 million in Europe, 7.07 million in Japan, and 4.42 million in the rest of the world.

Breaking down the 157.20 million lifetime shipped figure for the Switch 1, it has shipped 60.13 million units in the Americas, 40.22 million in Europe, 38.67 million in Japan, and 18.18 million in the rest of the world.

The regular Nintendo Switch model accounts for 97.94 million units of the total Switch consoles shipped worldwide. The Switch OLED accounts for 32.54 million units and the Switch Lite accounts for 26.72 million units.

Nintendo's forecast for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2027 remains unchanged and has the Nintendo Switch 2 at 16.50 million units shipped and the Nintendo Switch at 2.00 million. If Nintendo reaches the forecast exactly that would put Switch 2 lifetime sales at 36.36 million units and the Switch at 157.92 million units.

Kinda suprised they're bothering to ship that many Switch 1s. Is the dream still alive?

Solid sales for Splatoon Raiders, Rhythm Heaven, Fire Emblem and Star Fox.

Slightly disapointing sales for the Switch 2 but they kept the 16,5 million goal for the fiscal year so they expect a huge holliday and after seeing the Zelda reception, so do I.

Amazing Switch 1 sales. The will crush the expected 2 million for the fiscal year and probably even reach 3.

Did Switch 1 release in India yet?

  • +2

No and I think the hope is still that will give Switch the boost it needs to surpass 160 million. The India launch date is supposed to be within this Fiscal Year (FY) ending March 2027, with the rumors being either February or March 2027. If true, you would expect Nintendo of India to do the launch date/price/launch games lineup announcement in January.

And it will do it whilst the co sole is still quite relevant which is more than can be said about the 160 million reported for PS2 decades later.

So the Switch 2 sold less than the first one if you look at the same quarter in 2018, since Nintendo shipped 3.2 million consoles back then.

It'd be great if there are stats on third-party games sales, but, I know that might be business secrets

It appears they expect to ship about 7 - 7.5m units for the holiday quarter, which would translate to sell-through increase over last year of 0.5-1m I believe. That seems like a reasonable expectation.
